ah and there you have the reason why i will never (hopefully) work in tech support again - well that and i hate users
the crap support company at our place wouldn't have got that far though, heh they have the command prompt disabled by default on all new PC's, a sensible enough approach to minimising the damage users can attempt to force on a system.
except that various programs that i'm using/creating require the command prompt to be active. so i phone up and ask for it to be activated - 3 days later and 10 phones calls and i give up - one search on google and a small abuse of local admin rights (which i'm not technically supposed to have but the bloke that installed the PC didn't know that

) later and i fix it myself
