I saw the original (Ju-on) which I thought was OK. Some creepy moments but overall rather confusing. (Trying hard not to be racist here but a lot of the cast look kinda similar so it's a bit hard to follow who's who at times, at least on the first viewing!)
The remake with SMG made slightly more sense but wasn't greatly different.

I heard in Grudge 2 the heroine is actually attacked by...some hair... o_O
