Commander Jordan Jurrel Feared Dead!
Gives Life to Thwart Otherworldly Invasion!

Darlings, this weekend saw the departure of the stunningly blond Commander Jordan Jurrel. According to the many reports we've received - one of which can be found below - Jurrel sacrificed himself to seal away the badness that had started to spread evil across the land from the craters. No more late nights pining, no more weeping and wailing, no more Jurrel-groupies asking for hair care tips - the world looks like it's going to be a bit less beautiful now...

A special report from Kitty DeVine - Poste Reporter, and Eyewitness
Dear Readers, today I bring news but tragic and wonderful. Jordan Jurrel is dead, but the land is safe, for now.

Commander Jurrel ? he of the flowing, blonde locks and improbably square jaw, summoned the land?s adventurers to Castle British last night in order to put an end to the monsters which are plaguing Trinsic.

There he and a ghostly figure, who was apparently the shade of Father Antos, the mad druid, spoke of the many dangers this land faced.

We followed them to a crater just off the island of Haven, and from there, within. I?ve entered a few dodgy holes in my time, but I had some trepidation about setting foot in one that was likely to be packed with horrible monsters. After all, whilst I have my eccentricities, I?m not a suicidal maniac like Mr Callum Fitzhugh, and in any case, I?d just had my nails painted a fabulous rose pink and wasn?t keen to chip the polish.
Still, being the only Poste reporter in the vicinity, I took a deep breath and went down.
Needless to say, the interior of the hole was full of nasty things: shadow wyrms, nether vortices and, of course, a blackrock elemental. The many warriors who had come managed to defeat them, but a substantial number received injures after the elemental exploded, showering us with debris (and ruining my lovely silk dress!)

It was only after the creatures had been cleared that I saw what a beautiful place the interior of this crater was. There were shimmering crystals in all colours of the rainbow, though some seemed to shimmer more brightly than the rest.

Jurrel told us that these represented the Virtues, and that we must find a way to heal them and stop them disrupting our land, for they were the source of the sickness.
We first activated the Valour crystal by saying what Valour meant to us. From it sprung a huge, brightly-coloured creature, which did not look too pleased to see us! Despite developing a nasty hangnail, I helped bring the beast down, and the crystal then lost its ghastly glow.

We then approached the Compassion crystal, and another beast came from it, but it looked sad and confused, and Jurrel told us not to attack. After speaking to it, we learned that it merely wanted to return home, so a mage gated it to the Shrine of Compassion, and the crystal was healed.

Jurrel said that the Honour crystal was the one that was causing all the problems, and passed his sword, Brightblade, through it, returning it to normal.
But there was still one crystal left to heal; that of Sacrifice.

As we spoke of what Sacrifice meant, the ground began to shake terribly, and Jurrel ordered us to stand back. We knew then that he intention was to sacrifice himself to the crystal, and many entreated him not to do it.
But there was no stopping the commander, and with a single goodbye, he touched the crystal.

Many flames leaped from the ground and the earth stopped quaking, leaving a large crystal spire where Jurrel had stood.

Dazed and emotional, I returned to Trinsic and found the last of the monsters had been killed, and no more had replaced them. Jurrel?s sacrifice had not been in vain.

Jurrel has oft been criticised for being an ineffectual leader, particularly where the ophidian invasion was concerned, but we can no longer say that he did not put the needs of the land before his own. Like Lord Helrick before him, Jurrel made the ultimate sacrifice in order to save the kingdom and its people, and we must thank him for that.

Never has there been a leader so noble or so drop-dead gorgeous. Whoever replaces him has a lot to live up to, that is for sure.
Your weepy reporter has noted that people are starting to wear Red Sashes in honour of the fallen Commander, with a tearful Tabbitha dressing up her Hospitallers with the mark of mourning. Nothing else can be said - apart from we'll miss him! *sniff*

Battle of the Egos
Yew's Klion Slums It

On Saturday, self-proclaimed Lord Protector Klion decided to pay a visit to Trinsic, supported by a number of his guards. Sadly he found no Duchy guards to beat up, as they were all too busy fighting the monsters on Paladin Isle, and had to be satisfied with a brief encounter with a few citizens (none of whom accepted his much vaunted offer of clemency). He and his men went to view the battle against the crater beasts, but only from the safety of the city wall, not risking coming any closer. This seems an action of considerable cowardice, and one that was observed by a number of the defenders, one of whom (Lady Fauna Riboflavin, a well-known and respected Britannian citizen) was heard to comment how typical it was of Yew?s behaviour.

Certainly it shows that Klion has no interest in combatting any evil in Sosaria, which leads one to wonder whether he would be a good supreme ruler - the role he seems to have picked out for himself. Even Duke Irvyn has been fighting alongside his people, although not on the front lines as his guards have refused that, but he was several times seen in the park area cutting down the reapers. It would seem that Irvyn is a man who puts his city ahead of his ambition, if he has any. Doesn?t that seem preferable to Klion, a man who is quite willing to sacrifice all his people and everyone else for the sake of his own swollen head

Letters

To the Morning Poste,

I find your readers reaction to Gretcha Gossip's article on the imprisonment of this "Kaelyn" character most amusing. Assuming that what she wrote was indeed untrue, how is that in any way inconsistent with the papers usual style? Surely they realise that the vast majority of issues are plastered with insidious lies, namely against the Yewish. And yet when, for once, the lies are directed at some other group, there comes a torrent of whining letters in response. The former correspondants accusation of the Poste becoming a "propaganda sheet for Yew" is the most laughable claim I ever ever had the misfortune of reading. Perhaps the general readership can 'dish it out but not take it' when it comes to paper bias, to put it in a colloquial manner.

Also - a personal note to "Ms" Kitty DeVine. I do not mind insults of my Besiegers, so long as they are both
witty and intelligent. Unfortunately, for all that expensive education your rich daddy no doubt paid for, it appears you haven't picked up the ability to deliver on either of these two fronts. What's that phrase? You can't polish dung? Furthermore, perhaps you would have the honour and decency to say such to our face in future, rather than insult from afar? I regret that I am forced to act in such a shameful manner myself, but I am not aware of where you reside. I suspect you don't know the way to Yew, and have developed your bigoted attitude without ever seeing those you look down upon. However, i'm sure that you could ask someone to escort you here, if you can dare travel to this barbaric and inhospitable land, where you're reliably informed the primitive and working class native savages merely grunt and grumble to communicate.

Regards,
Sineal Walker, Besieger Corporal of the Guardsmen Militia of Yew.

[Lola writes: Well well well - the propganda war when it was the grown-ups was astounding, but now the real people have got involved... we know it's serious. And following Sineal's comments, we have the Trinsic side...]

Dear poste,

It seems you nay got any facts right or only from the Yewish side, so I would like to talk to your reported and ask her where her informations come from.

This is an account of what I remember what happened in the last few days.

I was at the end of my shift when five or six armored people stopped me near the tavern. They said that there was a bounty of six thousand coins on my capture and that I should come with them and that all would be fine.

Knowing that I better take my chances than get kidnapped and sold off, I tried to run bat was knocked down and then carried off.

When I awoke I found myself traded to some Yewish officer, who seemed a bit surprised but paid them the gold and put me in a cell.

I was then to be questioned and one man came in and asked me to tell me all about Trinsic, its commanders military strength and secrets or he would burn my hair away and my face with it.

I told him my name and that I was a guard of the Duchy but my oath nay made it possible to tell them more, so they got another man in there who bound my hands and feet. He then got a knife and started to flick off my fingernails first on the little finger of my left hand and then the ring finger.

As I still nay told him anything he wanted to know he also removed the nail of my thumb on the left hand and threatened to do much worse.
So he took a dagger with some poison on it and cut my hand.
He must have underestimated the poison as I fell unconscious and he nay bothered to treat it as I awoke later on with a hurting hand and a starting fever.

Nay one of the guards bothered and I fell into a high fever and I nay can remember much as all was a blurr, but luckily someone finally called a healer and treated my wounds.

It took me days to be well enough to stand up again and I was finally led out to wash and do some chores. They then let me watch their training and for their amusement beat me up a few times.

If not someone had seen me there and reported to Trinsic that I was held captive, I still would rot in a cell there and probably be babtised (whatever that is) like a Yewish magik user threatened me with.

It was during the training where the Yewish beat up each other when one of the kaldorian jumped out of her hiding place and distracted the guards.

At the same moment Talon ran from the woods and dragged me along into the woods, until I managed to walk on my own. We then managed to get to Trinsic into safety and to freedom again.

So not only did someone under the Yewish command beat me up and kidnap me, no they also tortured me after dragging me onto their lands.
If not for the bravery of the ones that helped me I might have died there under Yewish torture.

If you wish an interview about the events or any other with me please feel free to come by and when I have time I will surely answer you.

I expect a correction of your article as soon as possible with an apology of your reporter, else I will see it necessary to take appropriate measures that such a thing nay happens again.

Kaelyn, Guardswoman of the Duchy and resident of Trinsic
