| Life is than fiction. Unfortunately given that fiction is effectively the quasi-divine will of the author anything that appears to be (un)fortunate is not so, merely the authors will.
So as such all events can be considered to be somewhat akin to deux ex machina. However some are more implausable than others and it is this measure of impluasability which must be watched since folk can only suspend their disbelief so far and if at some point they decide they cannot be bothered or exercise their right to suspend their suspension of disbelief the entire edifice crashes down.
Or to put it another way.
Lord of the flies; good premise, interesting ideas, but the ending is kind of hollow. They should have all perished. |
