Working late on the library catalogue the other night I fell asleep at the desk. I was woken by the sound of cupboard doors on the next floor opening and closing. Night had fallen, but there was no wind so why were the cupboard doors opening and closing like that? I realised someone must be up there. Then I heard the sound of footsteps moving along to the tailor's area. I grew afraid and sat perfectly still. I heard the spinning wheel begin to turn then suddenly stop. More footfalls, then for a while silence. Finally a long drawnout wail that raised my goodsebumps. Then silence again. I sat there for a long time but heard no more, but was too terrified to move for a long time. Then I fled the castle.
