| What pisses me off isn't so much the skinny girls as the fact so many magazines are using very young-looking girls to model for them. If I see a fashion spread with a model who looks about 16, it puts me off the clothes. Sure these girls are pretty, but they belong in Elle Girl or J17, not the style section of the Sunday papers, or older woman mags like Marie Claire. Back in the 80s, the models were still around the same age, but they looked like women. Given that it's the 30 and 40 somethings who have the cash, doesn't it make sense to have the clothes modelled by someone who looks like a grown-up and not some kid trying on mummy's heels? |
