Post Report: Shrine of Justice Inspection

Date : 31st March

Commander : Corporal Lydia Sylver

Unit : Private Dreathor Filanar.

Location : Shrine of Justice

Objective : Checking rumors of “corrupted shrines”.

Description of Events : Having heard from Captain Kaelyn rumors about “corrupted shrines”, we decided to scout the vicinity of the Shrine of Justice, which was allegedly one of the corrupted shrines. Our small group stepped out of the Yew moongate, ready to fight any evil we find.

The forest around looked peaceful until we reached a large clearing, in the center of which we found standard leather leggings. Even in the strange forests of Yew pants don’t grow on bushes, so it didn’t take us much time to come to the conclusion that the item was lost. Dark powers that make people lose their pants on the run are not to be trifled with, and the forest immediately ceased to look friendly. But it is not that easy to frighten Marksmen, and after making sure that we wouldn’t lose any of our much-overpriced items in case we had to regroup, we bravely ventured forth, to the dangers lurking in the forest shadow.

In a short walk from the clearing we reached an ominously looking crypt, and were alerted by the sound of fighting. Peeping inside the crypt, we saw a lady, sleeping in the middle of hostile skeleton activity. Why she chose to rest in such a place was impossible to tell, although I had heard stories about women who needed a kiss to wake up. Even if it was the case, skeletons could hardly provide any kisses (a well-preserved zombie would have suited the task much better). No matter what was the lady’s motive, the Damsel was obviously in Distress, and we could not leave her in those bony paws. We rushed inside, shouting RA and slaying the monsters in dozens.

In just a few minutes the crypt was safe and quiet, but we didn’t get any thanks for that. Looking displeased with our intervention, the lady ran out, probably seeking a livelier grave. Well, we did what we had to, and we didn’t expected thanks… we departed, wishing the weird girl to find her beautiful prince in another crypt.

The rest of the journey was eventless. The Shrine of Justice looked as usual as always, and there was no trace of evil activity. Fortunately, we had found a local nearby, riding a terrible bear-like war beast. She turned out to be friendly and willing to answer our questions. She told us that the other day the shrine had been enclosed in a dark cloud of magical origin. It remained unclear who was responsible, why the cloud retreated, and if we were to expect another attack. In any case, we hardly can do much with our arrows against a magical cloud, except maybe the Chaplain with his mystical powers, and the Signalman with his diabolical concoctions.

Outcome : The result of the scouting expedition suggests that the best tactic is to be on guard and be ready to retreat in the battle order, seeking to destroy the persons responsible.
