Spate of Deaths in Vesper

Trio of murders sweep Northern headlines!

Tragedy has recently struck the ever-dangerous Republic as a spate or murders and man-hunting have gripped much of the Vesparians attention in recent days. We managed to rope in one of the Vesparians who claimed to have been there for his story on it:

"Aye, there've been three murders all ta'gether. First was a Dragoni temple-girl - bless 'er cotton socks - who after we'd thrown just 'bout everyone against the wall and questioned 'em turned out to have been killed by that Van Cocidus man - bless 'is cotton socks. We roped the killer in an' turned him over to the Dragoni for punishment, y'know, since he killed one of their people in their temple like. Militia leaves it at tha' an' we return later to find tha' Cocidus man - bless 'im - dead in a pool o' his own blood with his ears cut off, an' another Dragoni girl - bless her - who w'there Magistrate dead in an open cell. Pretty grizzly ah gotta say.

Asked whether or not the Militia was looking into who had been there for the last two murders, the man simply said "We're looking into it", which said by any guardsman anywhere generally means they're not. More when - or if - we hear about it!

Professional Disagreement, or Hidden Power Struggle?
Baron Samsca and Captain Davion seen locking horns!

Eyewitnesses have said that a few days ago they saw two of the - if not the - most influential men in Vesper not only arguing, but firing shots at eachother in the street and plying the Militia to try have eachother arrested! Word is that the hostility has died down, and both men have held onto their freedom. But why would two men, usually known for being on the same page as one another , be at eachothers throats now? Have the recent events in Vesper prompted both to try and tarnish the other to avoid taking the blame? Or is there a greater meaning behind their arguments?

Resurgent Orcs rattle Vesparians

Republicans not at all pleased!

Reports are pouring out of the north that a band of Orcs have begun breeding somewhere in the forests around Vesper - and that their presence has been felt with the occasional Orcish incursion into Vesper itself! In just a few days there have been several raids on Vesper, an attempted kidnapping of a young Militiaman and - disheartening for some, pleasing for others - the death of one of the more notorious Militiamen, Rand Darkmoore, at their hands. Rare are the times the Vesparians have backed down from a fight, but given their current situation is this another straw being put on the camels back?

Battle Royal from Trinsic!

The market square had been prepared for the tournament and the participants were asked to stand in the ring to present themselves.

Eight fighters felt brave enough to try their abilities for the prize sum of 100.000 gold

*a sketch shows most of the fighters preparing*

The rules were to be pretty simple, all fighters would fight in the ring and nay teamwork was allowed. There would be three rounds and the one that fell in the first two rounds as first would not be able to fight in the final round.

In the first round Devante fell first and two mages fought it out between themselves.
In the second round Tammy was the unlucky one that fell first and from her cursing seemed very unhappy about it, cursing mages and their magik.

In the final round most fighters had noticed the dangers from the magik users and them tried to eliminate them first and in the end a Magincian swordsman called Garrick Adraldor was victorious.

*the sketch below shows the winner*

He got the prize money of 100.000 gold coins and it seems that the fighting tournament will be held in more towns, so keep an eye out for another chance to prove how well you fight.

More News on Those Murders in Vesper.

Apparently Van Coicidius from the Vesper Trading Company was horrifically murdered a few nights ago. He was found dead in the Vesperian cells, although Vesperians have denied any involvement.

Liberator Rand Darkmoore of Vesper was savagely killed last night. His ears, tongue, eyes, and even a leg was removed from his person. He was dumped by a gang of orcs in front of the Swaggers Inn.

Tonight!!!

Letters to the Editor

Dear Sir/Madam,

Because of the pressure of work, many hard-working crafters are unable to attend the events being held in Trinsic, Vesper, Stonekeep and elsewhere, but would like to at least be able to read about them by those who are able to attend. Even just a short notice of who won the latest tavern competition, a brief battle report, a boat-race or horse-race, or the tale of a quest would make a difference to enliven our days of drudgery, slaving over a hot forge.

I am,

Yours faithfully,

Jern Fretting
Blacksmith, Freeman of the Duchy of Trinsic

Farrier Services offered
The cost of farrier services offered by stables is sometimes extortionately high, while the workmanship can be shoddy. So as a fully qualified blacksmith I have been turning my hand to the related craft of the farrier.

I can offer services to shoe horses and other hooved mounts, replace dropped shoes, or to trim and maintain the hooves of unshod mounts. These services will be free if required at The Trinsic Rose Free Repair Hour 7-8 pm Wednesdays. Other times by fee and appointment.

Another Letter

How hilarious should one that used gold to gain office speak of freedom! Indeed, his only priorities are those that deal with the clink clinking within his pockets, the recent election I tell you was rigged!

How? It is widely known that several 'unknown Vesperians' voted at the elections and that there is a crowd within the town who's values can be bought with but a few silver!

I find it amusing to some degree that this 'Baron' or rather 'Braggart' would send decent law abiding citizens out of Vesper and allow a pirate filled cesspool to remain in the town! For what reason I may ask? Oh, yes I forgot... GOLD!

It will be a fine day when the real Baron Kain Twothumb turns around and kicks this double dealing traitor out of office and into his box!

Freedom? The only freedom Vesper will have is when your head is removed from your body!
