| 06-08-2007 Gwen sat up in the middle of the night, gasping for breath. The figure besides her moved. Good, she had not awakened him. As her eyes accepted the darkness of the night, she let herself slide out of the bed, walking to a window that allowed her to watch over Trinsic. Stars were shining comfortable in the nightly sky, the moon their brilliant huge companion. Why would the nightmares not go away? Why was she not strong enough to face her fears properly without wanting to shut her eyes for them and hope that it would all be over soon?
It is your desire to not fail the Lady Durinka that chosen you to replace her sister, that makes you worry too much. To Alar she could not keep secrets like she had done to all others around her. Such had been the wish and will of her parents and the elders of her birthland. You are gifted with this, there must be a reason and this will become known to you in time.
Then the voice of her father echoed in her mind: it is because you want to live. You are young, your heart is full, and… She could almost feel her father caressing her cheek, giving her a pained look that only a parent can give his child when he wishes to take away her pain. Come back to me and to your mother…
Gwen shook her head and turned around to glance over to the bed. She took a deep breath and walked back, sliding back in. He stirred and his arm was wrapped around her waist, pulling her close to him.
Before falling asleep again she could hear the comforting words of her mentor. I will keep an eye on you o’nessa. |
