Thoughts of a Ranger

The city of Shattrah looked as busy as usual. All manner of adventurers, soldiers and of course refugees and beggars hustled and bustled along the busy streets. Arenagoers were standing in front of the short goblin, placing bets on the next fights, the Aldor were performing their marches and shooting exercises, with some hilarity caused due to a strange ingredient in their meals and the center of the city shined with a single white ray shooting upwards into the starry sky, as if it had been doing so for centuries.

And from the balcony of a Scryer's residence Atare gazed deeply into that beam "The thread that I had grabbed onto has proved quite strong it seems..." She had gotten to know several quite reliable people amongst the Libertines that comprised this thread. Though she learned to tolerate their shenanigans, like Doomie's persistent hugs, Snub's constant smell and Stanner's acid tongue, she was nonetheless feeling like she was a secure part amongst the others. Not to mention the addition of new helpful members that had far less annoying personalities than quite a few of the veterans. But alas, though these were reliable people, she still did not feel quite fit to entrust to them with her true thoughts or her mission. That would come in time and to those whom she deemed would not merely dismiss it.

However it seemed this mission of hers had changed its priorities considerably. During the past couple of months she, along with her Libertine adventurers, had seen things that had produced startling revelations in her mind. The discovery of an Eredar controlling the chaos inside Karazhan was but the beginning...witnessing the true wrath of Magtheridon or the blind and single-minded destruction of Gruul was what had truly given the Ranger-Captain some pause for thought, that there are perhaps far greater threats to the safety of Silvermoon than just forest trolls.

But the event that stuck in her mind the most was watching Al'ar - The Phoenix God - flying majestically within The Eye. And she knew but one thing about this event. It was wrong! Such a majestic god should roam free and reveal the Sin'dorei his own free will, not be caged in a dungeon by a person, who could only be classified by Atare's beliefs as a madman for thinking that he is allowed to control the very essence of Sin'dorei culture. King Kael'thas. Atare swore that, even if it would take an eternity, she would slay that fiend for this horrendous insult. Taming a god as if he were a mere pet! The outrage made her head boil in fury.

But his keep was proving to be a fortress and it would take some time to break it down. Still, other significant victories were secured in the lair of Gruul and in Karazhan. Not to mention the artifacts recovered. In fact during the last week Atare herself had acquired such a grand amount of powerful equipment that she could not help but be dazzled by it. "If we had this kind of gear back during the 2nd Great War...there would probably be no more trolls in existance." she thought to herself wickedly. But the greatest prize for her was of course Sunfury, bow of the Phoenix. A symbol denoting Al'ar and his heritage. It would remind her forever that she has a god to set free...and a traitorous King to slay...

But other than that her own training proceeded well and a certain meeting, that had occured recently, with a Silvermoon Ranger had convinced her that now the time came to gather individuals, with whom she could share her vision and intentions. This would however not be done in the massive "unit raising" way that she had done months ago with The Crimson Blade. If her stay with the Libertines had taught her anything, it was that expanding slowly and carefully pays off in the long run. Not to mention that it is easier to assist a smaller amount of companions than a greater number.

Soon...her own secret unit would be formed. And the Sin'dorei would have a force of hidden protectors that would guard them from any threats - especially the threats that came from the blood elven leadership...

((Long one? Maybe so, maybe no. Bottom line is - time to RP. I'll probably do weekly posts like this or at least bi-weekly ones that will basically summarize what Atare's up to and how she looks at thingies. Wish I coulda focused more on the details of Atare's face or on the outside more but meh...I already wrote quite a bit...I'll do more o' that later on. ))
