Friday 11th August

Sent the lads and lasses off to train in Cove while I mooched around the Trinsic market. There wasn't really anything there to tempt me, especially not that ghastly fop, Lindley, who turned up in what looked like a whore's nightgown (bright pink, of course). When I pointed out that he'd forgotten to put on his britches, he poured scorn on my apparent ignorance of the current fashion trends. Fortunately, Pierre was just as ignorant and demanded that he cover up or be arrested for indecency. And indeed, it was indecent, because it was quite clear that he was wearing no undergarments, for when he moved a certain way, the family heirloom slipped into view. Not a pretty sight, either, I might add.

Kai turned up a while later and we went for a drink in the Keg and Anchor. I bought him dinner - a roast suckling pig with a side dish of minted peas. Kai didn't know what to make of the peas. Apparently, vegetables were never part of his diet in Kororth. I told him they'd be good for him so he forced them down, but seemed to enjoy them about as much as Mordred used to. It must be a man thing.

I ordered some ice cream from the cook, in the hope that he might find the experience novel. However, he didn't much like that, either, pronouncing it "disgusting." I suppose someone who has been raised on a diet of unseasoned meat would find the sweetness and coldness of ice cream a bit shocking. Still, never mind. All the more for me...
