but seriously, in europe you have greco-roman wrestling, the french have savate (which is much like thai-boxing) and this website even suggests the english had their own form of bare knuckle boxing, which wasn't for sport, and included kicks, gouging and grappling. A friend of mine stumbled across the site when he was trying to find out about Cornish wrestling. There is all sorts of stuff! the site is very eye opening.
There have been manuals written about different fighting styles in europe. the italians, spanish and germans wrote quite a bit about fencing and sword play, but the english had standardised techniques for various weapons also. Take a look at the site and see what you make of it
