For those starting on Aquillonia, note that the City of Tortage and it's surrounding area, and the Ruins of Acheron zone are non-pvp. The White Sands and Underhill (or whatever its called) are both pvp zones. If it's a pvp zone player names will appear in red. Chars a lot lower than you will be in grey but are still attackable/can still attack you. Blue means they're in your group.

Be careful when attacking stuff near other players as you can and will damage them depending on how close you are to them. Group members can't harm each other which is good. It's worthwhile grouping with a few folk for added protection.

If you die in pve after lvl 10 or so, you start dropping gravestones and getting a 30- minute penalty. Find and click the gravestone to remove the penalty. In pvp there's no penalty, at least not in the lower levels. My lvl 25 assassin hasnt died to pvp outside of the Tortage area so I don't know if there's a penalty after lvl 20.

If you're getting attacked whilst farming/questing remember you can change the instance. Click on the small grey arrow next to the day/night cycle on the minimap and Select Instance. A list will appear of all the instances. The ones nearer the bottom are likelier to be quieter. Hell, it's worthwhile doing this even when victorious in pvp to prevent the inevitable revenge attacks as you're fighting mobs.

There doesnt seem to be any way to find out what instance you're on so if you're trying to hook up with friends select one instance and have everyone transfer there.

One thing I found in Old Tarantia (Aquillonian capital) is that the tavern The Green Man allows pvp which is good for bar brawls. The actual bar brawl minigame doesnt seem to be in place yet but this could suffice in the meantime.

Combos: It can be awkward at first trying to work out the best combos to use. I found it easiest to have the combos that finalise with the left hand grouped in the left side of the toolbar, the mid-using ones in the middle and the right-hand finalising ones on the right side. Makes it more intuitive when targetting unshielded areas.

As you level a lot of of your new combos will replace the older ones i.e same name but with a II or III after it. These can just replace the old ones. But be aware as you level the combos get more complex; instead of just combo + right attack they become combo + left attack + right attack. As far as I know the last combo move is the one that targets the area i.e combo + left attack + right attack will attack the right side. I migth be wrong there but I think that's the case.

Don't worry about screwing up Skill points. They can be refreshed (for free at lower levels, no idea when it costs money) by moving curso over a skill, holding alt and left clicking. When you put points into a skill remember to hit Accept. At later levels all chars get hiding, on a pvp server it can be worthwhile putting points into it. I've not bothered with Recovery, as I rarely use the Rest ability. I'd rather be able to hide and let stamina recover on its own.

Bandaging recovers hp without the need to rest so I put points into it. Climbing is personal preference but soem quests need it. The Blessed Caves in Kymphthara (sp) province need it somewhere between 100 and 150 points so it might be worth putting that into it. 80 should be enough for the Tortage area.
