NOTICE: New arrangements for trade in Trinsic

Proclamation

The following changes to trading regulations and citizenship within the Duchy and City of Trinsic have been discussed and decided for the benefit of the citizens and the well being of the Duchy and all its loyal subjects and friends. All changes proclaimed hereafter shall be effective immediately and without limitation.

Citizenship

Henceforth, citizenship within the Duchy and City of Trinsic shall be formalised and granted additional benefits. As such, citizens of good standing are:
  • eligible to run for any public office within the Duchy or City of Trinsic.
  • eligible to cast their vote in elections for public offices.
  • entitled to attend a monthly public audience and to address the Duke directly with any issues they might have.
  • entitled to call upon the Justice or a representative to assist in settling legal arguments with other citizens.
  • entitled to ask humanitarian and diplomatic assistance in times of grave need.
Citizens of good standing are all those that are directly employed by the Duchy of Trinsic or those having leased a property within the City of Trinsic. Those employed by a leaseholder are considered citizens unless a majority of the Council of Trinsic objects. In addition, those of good reputation with the Duchy of Trinsic can acquire citizen status if voted on by a majority of the Council of Trinsic. Citizen status may be removed if the citizen commits a crime or by vote of a majority of the Council of Trinsic.

Trade Permits

Trade permits may be given to all citizens and visitors to the Duchy of Trinsic. They enable the holder to legally purchase and sell goods and services in their field of trade within the Duchy of Trinsic. Permits are initially offered for a trial period of one month. Following a successful trial, during which the holder of the permit conducted business within the Duchy of Trinsic without causing trouble or breaking laws, further permits are given out for a duration of three month. After this period, the permit has to be renewed by the holder. Permits cost an administrative fee of 600 Britannian gold pieces. Market days are exempt from the necessity of a permit.

Leases and Shop Ownership

Citizens have the right to purchase a lease that enables them to run a business within the City of Trinsic as if it were their own. Leaseholders are:
  • considered as citizens of good standing within the Duchy Of Trinsic.
  • entitled to all earnings acquired in their leased property. Normal tax rates are reduced by half.
  • entitled to employ staff and apprentices for their leased property.
  • entitled to participation in any markets and events hold within the Duchy to sell their wares.
  • entitled to place a stall in busy public areas around Trinsic, such as the western gate or the parks. This right can be rented out to other traders, provided they hold a valid trade permit.
  • entitled to apply for guard protection for the transportation of goods and gold.
  • entitled to submit a written missive to the council, which is guaranteed to be read and taken into consideration by all members of the council.
  • entitled to be heard on decisions made within the Duchy concerning their line of trade.
  • entitled to attend a monthly gathering of leaseholders in which business in town can be discussed. Baring unavoidable circumstances, the Duke and mayor will attend to this meeting in order to listen to the current achievements and problems and support businesses within the Duchy.
  • may apply for a private audience with the Duke.
In order to acquire a lease, the applicant has to be a Citizen in good standing within the Duchy of Trinsic or be vouched for by one. They have to provide a report about their planned business as well as a fee of 600 Britannian gold pieces per month. Before a lease will be granted a trial period of one month has to be completed, in which the applicant is required to do business according to his plan. If the trial period is completed a lease can be granted for a duration of no longer than three month, after which the continuation will be under review by the authorities. Leases automatically include a trade permit.

To apply for a lease, please see Trade Minister Kimi or any senior guard on duty.
