| Well an eventful night indeed. Strolling back to the docks in Britain Who should I see coming out of the library, but Molly Culliton. I couldn't believe my eyes, she looked as gorgeous as ever. She called out my name and asked me if I was rushing back to Trinsic already. I told her I better had as I didnt want to outstay my welcome with the BPA. We got talking, mostly about her career and how I was faring. I thanked her for her help with the BPA and offered to buy her a drink. We went to the Unicorns Horn, a fancy place which was nice and quiet enough for a chat and a catch up.
Molly got the first round in, I had an ale and she had Brandy. She seemed to be pleased with the coverage she got with her report on my incident with the cabbages and the authorities. Knocking back the ales and the brandies we got talking about people we knew or knew of, it seemed just like the first time I met her back in Trinsic when she had been a reporter for the Poste. She kept on bringing up her new job with the Slander and the perks she was getting, but I could not see past her gorgeous eyes, her legs weren't bad either. As it happens, during our talk I missed the last tide. Through fault of my own if I am honest. She kept mentioning them so I wouldn't miss them, but I wanted to miss them. I wanted to be with Molly.
I looked out the window and told her I had missed the tides, she said it was a shame as there might not be any rooms free at this time of night in the inns of Britain. We checked them anyway. All empty including the one she was staying at. She asked the Innkeeper if it would be alright if we shared. He ummed and ahhed for a minute then agreed. I took a deep breath and walked up the stairs with her.
Hers was a small room with a single bed. She got some blankets out an put them on the floor all folded up and gestured me to sit on the bed. She told me how it was nice to see me again. I looked into her eyes and told her the same, I held her hands in mine and went for a kiss at the same time as her. We knocked noses and it was rather embarrasing! She kissed me on the cheek and I told her that Trinsic missed her, implying (subtly I thought) that Trinsic was me. She answered that Trinsic was nice but too small for someone like her, that she didnt do the caged bird thing. She then said that she still couldn't cook. Said it was for stupid people who wanted to look after other people and said it wasn't for her. It made me think of Jim. Jim who cooks for me, cleans for me and generally looks after me. What was I doing in this room? This woman could only ever love herself! I now know Jim loves me, I think, or at least I hope. I love Jim. I cannot tell her though, I don't think she would believe me or understand me. I hope I understand this myself in the morning, what with the amount of Ale I supped. I bid Molly good night and kissed her on the cheek and settled down on the floor with a blanket. I set off at Dawn tomorrow for Trinsic and Jim.
I woke up at dawn in a cold, quiet room with no sign of Molly. She had gone to her career. Again. Oh Jim I am sorry! |
