hmmm not enjoying beta, loading times far too long, servers bounce me off and cache a lot of crap in me pc. gameplay itself is fairly run of the mill, skilled fighting? button mash ahoy imho

After sitting on my arse for far too long, I actually dropped in a beta application today.
Nothing about the game's leapt out at me, though...

The only really positive hype I've picked up has been from MMO-hoppers, psyching up to migrate to the next big thing.
"Revolutionary Technology" my arse!
All the bells and whistles in the world aren't going to save you, if the core of the game sucks.
Gimmicks... Gimmicks... Gimmicks...

I want it to be good... I want MMOs to be lifted out of the rut of mediocrity, ploughed by WoW...
But, all the promising MMO's seem to just scurry along in its shadow...

There is an NDA on the beta still yes...

Remember guys, BETA.. Things are supposed to be like this at this stage.. Some people, with right computer configs are having a really smooth sailing thru loads and gameplay.. For most of us.. Its horrible..
Nothing new under the sun when it comes to betatesting tbh

Personally i was really, really sceptical to the ui and gameplay they showed off a bunch of months ago, but acually, the thing they have going now is pretty nice.. And buttonmashing = gaming after all.. Rather mash buttons that click and forget

Erm....release is only 2 weeks away, using the BETA excuse doesnt really wash

For 'most' people it shouyldnt be horrible, it should be fine for most people and then horrible for those with crap set ups.

But technical issues aside, there are some serious gameplay and longetivity questions being asked.

nope applied awhile back, had an offer to swap my WAR beta for the AoC one but I trust the guy as far as I can throw him :P

Conspiracy theorist in me claims it was because I said I had WAR beta in the app.
Im far too truthful, almost didn't get into the TA cause I was too truthful with my medical history, need to work on that ^^.

I read somewhere, though I can't remember where for the life of me, that the open beta may be using an older client version, with a bunch of debuggers, or something.
If I could remember where I read it, then I could probably be a lot more specific. but, that could probably account for a lot of the problems people are facing.

Erm......why bug test an older client? Kind of defeats the point doesnt it?

They should have found all the bugs by now and should have them in the 'fixed', 'unfixable' or 'fixable when time and effort are put in'

If they dont know where most of the bugs are by now they are in even more trouble....

My guess would be that they're using the debugging stuffs to automatically report issues. In effect, they're getting 50,000 people to play a buggy client, which is reporting where these 50,000 people are having problems.
Pretty smart, in a way. Since, as previously mentions, 49,500 of those people aren't likely to manually post a bug report, if they can help it.
