Why not use the real client the same way?

And it cant be a stress test, because if it is then it would be far too late to do anything about it before launch, same with most bugs

Beta's nowadays are all about generating hype, and they have been for several years, all the testing gets done before they let the masses in. The only thing these final Beta's are good for is either increasing interest in your game or testing the load on the servers, its too late for anything else.

Thats why they have early closed beta testing, so they can push it back and fix things before release (WAR being recent example)

I just thought the combat looked a bit crude and blood just seemed to spout in all directions in a sort of comedy fashion. Landscapes looked incredible though!

Well try combat out, personally I at least for now I find it pretty fun against otherplayers
againts mobs there are some cool stuff also, but real diffirence in the system shows in pvp where other people aren't so easily hit as they don't tend to stand next to your face (expect if they are barbarian and you have deathwish)

I was really worried about the combat system when they released the plans on what they were up to.. Having tried it firsthand, and FC moving away a bit from their initial idea, its actually a really nice system compared to all the "click-and-forget" systems out there.. That said, i have not tried any pvp at all yet due to the choppyness of the game atm, simply no use since i will get slaugthered no matter what when the client hangs

And yes, as i said all along, those that have a good connection will have a huge advantage in pvp still.. Not as bad as i initially thought, but way more than in the existing sticky-targeting games..


Main worry for me will be how to bind the keys.. Im a total nublet when it comes to left-hand motorics and to "feel" where my fingers are on the keyboard.. So i pray for a smart way to keybind the interface

Other than that, im lvl 15ish on my Dark Templar atm.. Feels like a weak class, but since i dont have anything to really compare with yet, i dunno.. Maybe the game is supposed to be rock hard at certain chokepoints

Btw, Plen, is there any reason at all to play actively with the shields in pvp, or just leave them as is at this point in time when we know to little about combos certain classes use with great effect ??

There does seem to be a good discussion on shields, half say they are useless in PvP, the other half say the first half just dont know what they are doing and it takes more skill.

I'd like to say somethign smart about shields but I can't just yet as i am still middle of grasping the whole fighting myself

Tho if played right they might be useful.. but I haven't still figured out anythign expect
when hitting people to their backs shields are useless.
