The new keep

Eccerion inspected the spear, the steel shone in the light of the sun.
He placed it back were he had picked it up as he left through the keep doorway.
The new weapons, shields and armors had arrived in time for the keeps upgrade and fortification, and only waited for strong guards to use them.

As he walked down the road from the keep he couldn't help smiling at the thought of the initiation ceremony for the new keep.
It had been a simple enough affair; what citizenry of Tronac could attend had done so, the final touches made and it was ready for use.
Hardly the fanfare he had experienced whenever some new tower or stretch of wall had been added to Taranthias already formidable defenses.
There in the old city there would have been dignitaries, nobles and parades to make a big spectical of the whole thing, as much to warn enemy spies as to reassure the populace.

Course there had been cheering, a bit of drinking, and the strip dance the stygian mage lady Furia had put on.
Eccerion smiled at that memory, no doubt it would stay with him for a while, wasn't every day his view of both Stygians and mages were changed at once.

"Who says mages have nothing to offer the world?" he said to himself as he climbed the steps of one of the guard towers.
Looking out across the surrounding area he could see the mountains and forests stretch out as far as his eyes could see.
Out there was a vast wilderness waiting to be tamed.
Eccerion turned to look at the keep and drew his sword in salute; Now Tronac had was even better prepared to tame this rugged land.
