Sorry Vanqa, you did misinterpret my remarks, Paladis and Rangy know me better then to laugh at the loss of history of CoRE it is truely a tragedy.

This forum has been back up for 3-4 days now (?) and half the threads are "<3 F4G" or "H8 F4G" and people just squabbling over details, but fact remains, this is a forum, you have not lost your history because you still have yourself and you characters!

make more history and STFU squabbling peoples!!!

All this money spent on place I hardly visit anymore, all this money on a place where people couldn't be arsed to click one advert a day (truth be told the server would of been paid for with an average of 40 clicks a day, that's all!). Could of pruned old posts to keep size of database down, but didn't allowed them to stay so you guys didn't lose stuff. When the server went down and took 5 days to come back up it was because I was working away from home, and reason I have had to work away from home is money is tight and need the overtime. For 2 months now been spending 4 nights away from home not being able to do the things I enjoy yet still I didn't close this place despite that it would shave ?50 off my bills a month.

Yes you lost posts, but I have lost over ?1000 running this place over the past 2 years, if you back to the start 5 years ago that figure is probably closer to ?2000. I asked for your support but 95% of you didn't give it. The info lost was so important yet you couldn't spare 10 seconds of your daily routine to click an ad? Honestly can you see why when I am struggling to pay my own bills I simply couldn't afford to pay extra to have forum backed up?

After 5 years of countless hours of work and money poured into this site letting go of this place was very hard which is why I just couldn't do it. But reading some peoples opinions and blatent lies its now been made really easy
Ouch. That got to hurt. I'm sorry, you must be pretty bloody upset by now

People always "care" when things go wrong and status is put on the table. As long as it is working as always most people wont care. They will just go on like they are used to, and expect things to be so.

Ignorance is what drives most people forward... Cause that is warm and cozy, and can always find some easy road in it. Its then much easier to nit pick those who actually try to do something.

At the end of the day its how you perceive the achievement yourself that makes the difference, not how majority does. Because majority dont give a damn, and will never do either. That is why such polls are fruitless too.

To all those unappreciative bastards, you know who you are.

You really have no idea how much effort, and money Marty has poured into this place. Yes he enjoys working with servers, yes he enjoys working with forums, but yes he is only a human being with limited money funds and with only so much he can take.

As some of you might know I have been the Staff Leader of this site at same point. Due to this I am not only aware of how much work Marty has dedicated to this place, but also how ungrateful the majority of it's members were.

There are some outstanding members, who were always great and supportive, but the majority could do nothing but bicker, moan, and cry.

It's for a reason I stopped spending every second of my freetime here. I gave up on the concept of being appreciated long ago, but getting people moaning constantly was not a circumstance I could work in. And yet Marty kept going. He kept making special styles, spending up to 12 hours on one and getting "wtf I don't like it" in return or having the guild quit the game 1 month later. Or having a new guild asking for a style and not understanding why the effort would not be made.

Think of all the damn niceties this site has had! Do you think Quick Reply was always a feature on vbulletin? This site had it long before it became part of the package. Quick replies to PM's, Thread prefixes, Arcade, Store, Pets, secialized Styles, Web Chat, Chatbots, 5 million smilies, too many things to even list. And the most common response was always a "I don't like it" or more trouble.

I seriously have tried to convince him one thousand times to shut it down. The community did not leave him happy, he did not like the atmosphere that much anymore, he did not play the game associated with it anymore, he also does not have freetime next tot he job anymore, nor does he have the money, which is the biggest problem. And I kept telling him to leave it be and move on, but he didn't. He felt a sense of loaylty for the very few people who made an impact and have helped. He knew his work was not appreciated much, and I do feel it was more a chore to him to keep it running, than him enjoying it. He still kept upgrading software, he still kept paying for the bills. Just because you did not see his work does not mean it's not bloody there. Yeah he might not have been as active in bringing in fancy new things as he used to be, but this was down to him realizing how fruitless his labor was. But he was still running the server and keeping it going, he did not make bold Threads saying "yo guys, today I did this and that on the server" to cherish himself, but that doesn't mean he didn't do it.

You know it totally shocks me how someone can say "well he was too busy playing WoW wasn't he". If you had an ounce of intellect in your brain you wouldn't make such stupid assumptions and investigate into the matter first. I lead a guild in WoW which he is in, it is a raiding guild and you are required to have an attendance of 75%. He couldn't maintain this, was almost kicked, all due to his job. He played an average of 1 day per week and you have it to say it's poor service? The guy works away from home in a really sub standart hotel, where he has no Internet. He tries to rescue this place for fucks sake, but he didn't have a Signal on his Laptop. When there is no net to connect to, then there is no net to connect to. Yet you expect him to give perfect service? People can give perfect service when they are paid to do the job. Have you clicked on an Ad a day? Yeah fat chance, it's mainly the Donators clicking in the first place.

Oh I am sorry, but there aren't "some bad apples" in this community, there are a few good ones that stick out from the bad ones. I am sorry they had to read my offensive crap, but someone had to say something for Marty.

Seriously, the guy can not afford proper food, is really not enjoying his hotel stay, trust me it ain't Sheraton, all to be able to sort out his bills. And then keeping this place up irregardless which mainly was just work, and people not giving a rats ass about him.

So for all those concerned who think they can point a finger at Marty and blame him: Fuck you. You could have clicked on Ads or donated so there was actually money to buy seperate server space to put backups on (backups on the server that dies are so extremely useful you see), or he could have afforded a second HDD for the server to move the stuff over, but he couldn't.

For all those who were Donators, I know Marty is sorry about lost stuff, whatever it may have been. I am no longer part of this site at any rate, so it's not my place to say thanks, but you know it kept the place going for so long. May it all work out for you guys.

An Admin can now ban me and delete this, but someone had to say it...

*cheers* well said Katrin. All that was ever asked by Jack is click an ad or donate stuff if you could afford it, latest subscription i saw was 5 pounds for 3 months, you know what the is about FIVE PENCE per day, and as for clicking an ad hey that's even free. I don't think Jack needs grief he needs a medal, and those of you that never helped deserve all that happened.

I am a user of this forum.

I value the service.
I can live with lost stuff.
It happens.

But I don't want to be made responsible for Marty's or anyone's real life problems just because I happened to use this supposedly free place and forgot to click some ads.

At some point the f4g admin team made the conscious decision to go on with f4g, very well knowing that we are an ungrateful bunch and that it cost you financially. While this is very noble, it is also stupid. Real life first. Every GM tells you this, every RPer, and I am sure most would have understood if you guys had said, "sorry, we have to shut down". Real life first.

But now coming out of the closet and ranting at us and putting marty's empty plate and the lack of clicks in the same post is just ridiculous.

It's a common fact that good GM's doesn't have a real life.

Besides, where were those ads anyway? Not sure I ever saw any. I did click some links someone posted in a thread that stated that one should click once a day.

sorry, after reading through all this, it seems both sides are pretty much just throwing mud and whining at the other sides lack of this and that, some posts are nice and constructive, but most feels *shrug* like blickering

thing happened get over it, writing posts to provoc, or posts to try and make people feel guilty just is a tad to childish, just get rid of these pretty much meaningless treads and let the owners/admins whoever is in charge here right now decide what happens

if you want to play with mud go outside, i know i rather do that
