I don't think anyone is really having a go at Marty/Jack of Lumber?

As Floria said I find it a bit unfair to try and make us look responsible for Marty's RL financial problems? Nobody asked him to carry on when he could no longer afford it.

I use these forums because they are the place where VTC has always lived, but I have no real attachment to f4g.net, nor do I really feel part of a community as a whole on here. For those reasons I would never offer to donate (even if I could afford it) because free hosting is offered elsewhere.

And I never remembered to click those adverts down the bottom, but I see f4g.net as a house for the VTC forums and I don't personally feel enough attachment to it to take it as my responsibility to help keep it afloat.

If things are that bad I will move somewhere else for the VTC forums where I am not expected to do extra to keep the site standing. I can understand that some pour their heart and souls into this site, but I care about my guild and not the forums as a whole, and I do not like being made to feel guilty because I don't click little adverts or donate money.

I don't pay anything to keep these forums afloat, and I did not blame anyone when my things were lost - but I didn't sign a binding treaty when I signed up here and don't feel it is in any way my responsibility that Marty is financially frustrated.

If this is all so much strain on Marty then he should probably have shut f4g.net (or passed it on) a long time ago. It's not my fault, or anyone else's, that he didn't.

(having said that I am of course very grateful to Marty (and the other admins) for all their work, but if it got too much it should have been stopped a long time ago, nobody was forcing anyone to continue paying for the forums)

Out of interest How does UOforums pay for itself ? had a quick look and it seems to use the exact same model this place tried to pay for itself with the good will of its user base.

Nothing is free, someones paying for it somewhere down the line.

A couple of you have one thing right tho' it did seems like the Majority of core users were somewhat detached from F4G as a whole the sad thing is ive been here 5 years and i can count the number of user names i recognise on one hand in this thread.

Friends.
And knowing a good friend who gave me a very good deal on hosting.

Been around for 4 years without a funding problem thus far, nor will it be, as i've got sufficient funds in the paypal account linked to it, to last......not sure, probably in excess of 12 months.

You have all gone off topic here from Cals original post.

Myself i think there should be another option
A) Stay
B) Move to Jolt
C) Move to UoForums

I would go for option C mainly because theres a klot of RP guilds which have already moved there. Also it would save some people work as they are worried about the stability of F4G that they post on the F4G and on UOForums.

Option C - is the only sensible answer as anything else divides our community.

Seeing as there isnt a C vote i vote you move but not to Jolt.

Hell, I never saw it before today. I'd say you should finally bring yourselves over to UOForum though.,
