Willing to teach Swedish??

(I know this should probably be on one of the other forums like Lounge but most seem to read this one.)

I'm in the need of learning Swedish, reading and writing (though having an english keyboard will be a pain) and although I could get a book/tape/cd to teach it it's not as good as learning from someone who lives in Sweden themselves.

The main reason for this is my boyfriend is planning on us possibly moving there next year so I need to start learning the basics.

So if there is anyone who'd happily teach me some basic grammar and such I'd be very grateful.

How about your boyfriend teaching you?

Men svenska är inte så jäkla svårt, bara lite goa åäö och sånt för att krånga till det.

Good luck in finding one whom can teach ya.. its the language of kings :P

He only knows the basics too, having visited his brother over there he's decided he'd like to go back and hopes I'd want to live there too. Planning on going over in Easter when my son has 2 weeks holiday.

If you wish to learn a proper language, learn Norwegian. Swedish people understand you and you will sound a lot better than Twothumb, for instance.

Twothumb: Det er av velvalgte grunner du ikke lærer bort svensk, antar jeg? ;-)

Spanish may be one of the most widely spoken languages but its not going to help me where I plan on going.

*grins at Raul*
I lived and worked in Stockholm for about 2 months a few years and what I noticed is how much English the Swedes used - even amongst themselves. Its always nice to learn the language though if you are going to be living somewhere for a long time - I found it kind of funny how many people in the street would come up and ask me directions (hehe well i assume it was directions :P) in Swedish. Even when i was with my Swedish friends i was still the one they selected for directions lol I wished then I could have underestood. Even more so I would have liked to understand what one guy said when he tried to chat me up - i only know this is what he was trying cos when i looked baffled he translated into English for me - aww bless. Didnt help though he still got turned down

Good luck with learing the language - how about finding a book/tape to begin learning the basics and then practising with the peeps here who are from this country?
