The all gm forum isn’t that much fun believe me. If you want to get your views across start a thread on your guilds forums or speak to your gm? But tbh if you’re so set on having your say then make your own guild? No one ever said you can’t, I just suggested it's a bad idea for everyone to have their own guild.

And lanny there is a difference between having the will to make your guild work and being power hungry; it may be a thin line though aye.

and by doing that it wasn't a true communist state, what Kaelith did say about it was correct about communism.

Soviet was never a communist regieme. They always called themselves a socialistisc one. However, Stalin was a dictator and took advantage of his position. We shouldn't forget however that Soviet had a number of good reforms up until the 1950s, compared to a so-called democratic country like Norway, where women didn't get the right to have an abortion until the 1970s.

I don't think a single progressive communist party in the world achknowledges the Soviet Union as a communist/socialistic country after the 1950s, by the way.

As a communist, I'd prefer it if you wouldn't classify everyone with that point of view as swines, by the way.

There is a big negative stigma attached to communism and dictatorships... I blame it mainly on their outward disadvantages to the individual, where as I think if run well they are more stable and better for nations. Where as a capitalist democracy sounds great to people and the logic says that everyone shold benefit and have a say, where as with the USA and even Britain and other western capitalist democracies they are corrupt on the inside and all the abuse and poverty is covered up or kept out of the country, so that the country itself can benefit from it.

In the case of our community when we have had votes in the past, mainly to get public opinion, you get the typical democratic situation where the loudest get heard and cause a riot (or a flame thread) while most people aren't bothered.

But if you really want to make a guild with probably of max 3-4 active members when there already is at least two same kind of guilds.... then go for it.

I wouldn't worry, some people seem to think I'm a racist because I dared to question their defenition of what racism is. Anyone who doesn't follow the popular culture (of ignorance?) is a swine these days!

So what do you think racism is?

While nominally it would be better if people did not make new guilds instead of bulking out the current ones it must be recalled that such an arguement has existed for RP guilds pretty much forever.

Its certainly true for any guild which cannot claim to pre-date AoS, quite probably true for guilds who don't pre-date Erpa and its ossification.

So ultimately its pretty much hypocritical to argue people shouldn't make new guilds.. even if they shouldn't. A bit like alot of things really.

Look at BoC, I remember when they formed a lot of people, including myself, thought it just couldn't work. too few people in the game, too many guilds etc. but a few weeks later they are romping up the highest players in a guild table and have since become a staple member of the RP community.

So to maybe clarify or revise my points and maybe support some other opinions:

it's not so much that people DON'T want new guilds, it's more that people don't want even more badly or mediocrely run guilds that would be better off bolstering another guild. if you think you have what it takes to lead a guild and draw new people in then go for it!! The royal marksmen seem to be another new guild who have made a good, characterful and active place for themselves in the community (admittedly they aren't that new now, but in the grand scheme of things they are quite new ).

If you're unsure what's going to happen still go for it! if people have the urge to make a guild or have a go at running one try putting stuff down on paper, showing people and getting their opinion. gather a group who are interested and discuss it, then when you're sure, form it! but if things don't work out people just have to realise it isn't going to work and disband before they become just another long running 3 man guild with no prospects.

another thing to consider is time you have to commit. I've always wanted to form a guild of my own for years. when i first got in the community I formed a guild to some success, but i was younger and niave and had to break it up when i realised i just didn't have the time. since then i've always known i'd never have the time to form a guild for my own so i never have (crank the violins out?)
