You must forgive us Grd and our primitive, savage ways. We just find it difficult to grasp what the proper thing to do in such situations is. Thankfully, we do have the ability to learn from such dignified and esteemed folks as yourself, albeit slowly.

I for one have managed to learn that it's perfectly fine to use OOC blue characters for the purposes of gaining an advantage IC. Not only that, but it is shameful and impolite for people to ask others not to do this publically. The proper, mature response to such an outburst is to say "Har, there's NOTHING you can do, they're blue!"

I'm pleased to know that it will be seen as wrong to complain if half of Grd turn up to the next battle as blue mounted mages and constantly cast Greater Heal on us. Hope to see you there, and good luck! *Finishes with a single smiley to prove his politeness*

I am intrigued as to what advantage a blue gives you in terms of spying.

I mean at best it gives you a current view of who is about in SK at the moment.
Which is obviously false because you have
A) Stealthers
B) People who will turn up if something is happening but are currently too busy and don't want to stand about quasi-afk.

Or atleast thats assuming Grd fit the normal form of guilds everywhere.
Still I have a phobia about blue players, join a guild, practically any will do.

Been a ghost cam in trinsic for around a year now. "Ghosty" stands at the west gate with the best of 'em, occasionally moves to the tavern mind. BUT! as its a ghost, no-one can see 'em...nope..

It depends on the situation.

When a guild goes to an effort of preparing defences which are designed to take the attackers unawares, a spy that cannot be revealed or killed would majorly benefit the invaders. All the suprise elements that the defences have will be useless if identified. Sure, they may miss stuff, but since they're not at any risk they can do a much more thorough job than any guilded scout.

In some circumstances, a blue spy would not be much of an advantage. The most it could do is freely list key targets to the opposing guild for them to concentrate on. It's still wrong to send them out though, just because it's impossible to effectively stop a blue spy.

It's only decent that you risk one of your detectable and killable scouts if you want to examine the strengths and weaknesses of an enemy's position - not only does it give the defenders a chance to counter the spy, but it just makes things a lot more realistic and exciting for both sides. I don't think James Bond would have been quite as fun to watch as it is if James had some sort of magical forcefield that meant he could never be harmed by anyone who saw him.

..umm, wouldnt that also be in context to the time? Expecting a massive brawl at 12:10am on sunday evening/monday morning? *grins*

But do agree in regards to the points made, if blues are being used like that OR as healers in a massive battle, sucks.

Is that one in addition to "Deady" who follows people around and goes where ever there is a group of people? I think i brought it up when he first appeared, it stopped for all of 2 weeks and then he came back, but I haven't seen him for a while - But I haven't been around much myself. A shame Exorcism only works at Champ spawns

Well I guess that.. could make some sense.
And ofcourse I agree that spies should be guilded and so can potentially be executed. Although in my oppinion wandering around in stealth is fairly lame if your attempting to actually spy on things, although I am ofcourse guilty of that. Afterall, Bond isn't invisible 24/7 either.

Although I suppose its only really helpful if your opponents are organised. Our system is usually *What the, theres walls..* *Follow me, Follow me!* *Run for it!*
Five minutes pass.
*Well that went as well as could be expected.*

Sorry for destroying the myth, if anyone felt it existed, that Vesperian prowess () is based on any organisational technique beyond that of shouting.

I quite like Deady myself.... he used to always follow the Kaldorians around at first.

I do agree that spies should be guilded though so enable him to be 'captured', but not all Guilds are warred to each other so there is always the chance a spy is going to be blue to someone. That leaves it up to GMs to ensure that if such things happen like was originally mentioned that its sorted out GM to GM or their assistents.

Simple question, how can you know for certain what guild a bluebie represents?

Spying in stealth, always feels very very ooc to me, but guess its kind of the only option, always a few in pretty much every guild that have those "xray visions" "sixth sense" "amazing hearing" "a sense of smell out of this world" that instantly runs and finds the spies. But spying is like every other silly issue that is taken up here... give and take

chance of being captured is anyhow part of spying, if someone can not take that they could always do something else

People tend to look at me strangely whenever I mention about a ghost, since I can see Deady regardless of whether or not they're in war mode.

So I've kind of got accustomed to phasing the character out from my mind, the only time I actually see them on the screen now (as in the real life me) is if someone else mentions it to me.

I do however believe that blue spying is for teh lose.
