I'm sorry if this seems like someone who wasn't involved coming in to stoke the fire, and I do appreciate that coming from me, what I'm about to say will sound awfully ironic. But seriously, please:

Can we drop the CoY vs. ERPA/CoRE subtext?

I'm frequently accused of being noisily critical of CoRE publicly and I'm often told I'm an elitist - I'd be a liar to deny either account. But I'd also be being rather harsh on myself and others who share my attitude if I said it was all entirely unprovoked. I'm sure there's a large amount of people here, reading this forum, who were quite happily part of both communities, embraced both the high and low fantasy ideologies and have enjoyed all aspects of Europa RP from the beginning. I'm sure these people will tell me they're in the majority, and be correct, and will say the likes of Raul and co' are just a provocative minority that get off on being the forum troll.

But in a bizarre and unprecedented act of hippyness, can I just ask we all just have one big group hug?

Let's bury those hatchets and just grow up a little. We're all that's left on Europa. We can pretend we're "independent" guilds or "CoRE member guilds" or "ex-CoY guilds" or whatever all we want, but the simple truth is:

We're all the same community. Whether you like it or not. Whether our beuocratic guild leaders agreed to some whiney "mutual RoE" or not. We all RP together anyway. We can learn to get on with each other and stop being childish, or we can watch it all fall apart for the sakes of pointless pride and a MASSIVELY geekish attachment to what has been. I'm going to be the first to hold up my hand and say, yeah, I've been wrong about the world outside of CoY - c'mere, give me a hug. You want in? Whatever.

Samsca, you’re correct. Disliking someone or some guild just because they belong to some group is plain silly. In the end we all play together so it’s good to get along as much as possible. Good to see you make a post like this Su-mi.

That's very decent of you, Su-Mi. As a passive observer the Europa RP community has looked sort of tainted by that old divide. It pops up all over the place, and rarely gets noticed for what it is - a problem. It isn't one that can be healed by integration though, which appears to have been one of the principles behind the latest RoE.

I only really RPed in UO during a brief, 6-8 month period in 2001-2002, and I've got to say I never really noticed the supposed undercurrent of hostility. I had characters in a number of CoY and ERPA guilds, and I'd on the rare occasion wander from one RP centre to another without ever getting hassled OOC. Now, that isn't to say it wasn't there, but I do feel it's been overplayed considerably for the express purpose of a good whinge.

I think the biggest problem you need to deal with is the inability of some players to seperate IC from OOC. This happens in all RP communities and is SO easy to fall victim to (esspecially with older characters) that you can't really hold anyone to account. But if people can focus on keeping their character's personal vendettas seperate to their own, your online experience would be much better.

Well believe it or not, i do not set out to flame or troll threads. I have strong opinions and dislike certain traits that sadly are very popular on these forums, plus i do tend to post before thinking alot. Im also not afraid to speak my mind, this also gets my in alot of trouble or upsets people.

Also i am NOT a CoRE/CoY/ERPA or whatever basher, im a huge fan of RP communities. But really this should not matter anymore as there really is not a official RP community left on Europa who have any real clout or control.

Anyways, sure i can be a total twat sometimes. But those that know me, know ive always been that way.

Well Im not ready to hug you yet Sumi,but top man for the post.If more folk sought out those who they dislike IC,and roleplayed it out rather than verbalising it on forums,we might have a bit more activity?

Anyway I agree ,and one of the reasons I never joined a 'umberella' org.is because as Sumi said we are ALL a part of the community wether we like it or not.

There is nothing wrong with constructive criticism or opinion and debate.

But its much nicer if people keep respect for each other and at least try and do it politely and without malice.

I think it's also time to realize that f4g isn't the "community" in the wider sense. Nobody will ever be able to represent every single RPer on this shard. There's too many interests and ideas and there's tons and tons of people who RP and don't really give much about the babble that is going on here on this forum when it comes to their daily virtual life in UO
But yeah, I never understood this us vs. them thing. Neither on a guild nor on a RP org level. Then again I never had to deal with RP orgs until I came to Europa.
