Those barrels you can get from npc stores and then put somewhere else, fill it water...

does anyone know if these can only be removed by other players (removing the water and then the barrel) or if they vanish by Game mechanics ?

People knick em all the time. Bit annoying, but it's often just non-RPers running past. Not like the Elven Quarter's miles out the way. When it happened to the road running through Yew a few years back when CoY was still a very insular community, that was really annoying.

Players can take them fairly easilly, althought its a somewhat time consuming process assuming you full them up with lots and lots of water.

In order to remove a barrel a player needs merely an empty jug - they can then double click on it and empty the water from the barrel.

The best way to make sure players dont take the barrels is to fill them with a good few jug fulls of water.........we used to use them in factions alot and the best way was to every day add another jugful of water to the barrel. This lessened the chance of a casual player wandering by and stealing it.

only players (and GMs of course) can remove them when they are filled with water. They do not decay when filled. Unfilled they do decay after a while.

I think because they think the idea of using barrels as border markings is a good idea. Next they decide to make one themselves in their own in game living space using the ones of others because they dont know how to get them themselves?

A filled barrel takes 20 pitchers of water, so if you fill it up - only the more dedicated will bother

Seriously, you get used to such pestering after a while as there is only a minority of people that care so you can only either put up with it or stop playing the game (the thread about the missing recruitment books proves that as well as the complaint i made about the house with the strange rp scene in it at the edge of the Elven Quarter)
