RP Questionairre - The Results - Part Six!

6 - What type of event do you prefer?

1) me? *I* prefer talky events, when ****** can show off knowledge. However nothing beats a dungeon crawl. Although it's best when we do it for a reason (however thinly veiled) since everyone can join in!

2) Large ongoing events like sherry the mouse or the blackrock elementals part, that can give interesting developments for the roleplayers (the voices are a touch of master, they are easy to do, and the impact is quite well on the roleplayers who knows how to roleplay properly) like that every roleplayer can create their own mini-scenarios to share with friends, a mage could go crazy, another hold a symposyum on the new blackrock, another could organize an ultra dangerous mining expedition.

3) RP is about interaction, and we like puzzles, debates, cultural activities as well as violence.

4) one with not too many people (lag problems)

5) I'm up for anything really: Action-packed, literairy, puzzles.
Running my own events I noticed anything where the attendees get to do a lot (action packed) get the best attendance.

6) Problem solving. Anything that gives you information. Exploration. Team strategy.

7) - the long lasting sort of events that give the possibility to develop your character

8) Anything where I can actually participate and not just have to listen/watch someone else. Mindless PvP is also dull, and guild trainings suck fetid zombie ***k.

9) I like an event that is appreciated and well attended by the rest of the Community.I detest ayn event where only a handful of people turn up,especially if its a market, tournament or some other such event that depends on a larger number of participants.

10) General everyday roleplay would be a good start, simple, easy to run markets - things that make sense to go to.

11) Scenarios. Something I don't see very often. To me a scenario is an extremely loosely scripted event, stretching about 1 or 2 weeks, with an open end. A scenario presents a group of players, or a guild, with a problem or situation they have to deal with. It's up to the participants themselves to come up with a way out. The people running the scenario should no try to push the players in one or the other direction unless they are stuck and don't know how to deal with the problem.

12) Unscripted and off the cuff RP, mainly something involving fighting or killing something or someone. I do enjoy ************* and his way of life.

13) Planned/unplanned ones, but NOT scripted (yes, a certain amount of scripting is needed, I know from experience. But scripting the whole event (which happens a lot) is just wrong and bad, in my humble opinion)

14) events such as the wider balckrock scenarios that then kick off into smaller events within rp - like the meetings at the umbra uni and all to bring peoples ideas together. One of my all time fave events was from years ago when Volchak kicked off in Spirtwood which lead to lots of twists and turns - part pre-planned story but also lots of random spontaneous rp following on....thats the best. Hard to come by. Also encompassed a whole mix of guilds.

15) I'm not really a fan of events, but I liked the Shadowcourt plays, and the Festival of Tales. I can't stand political stuff where the riff-raff are just expected to stand watching in awe.

16) Big plots, involving almost if not all RP guilds at one point or another. Perhaps the search for an item or such and a group of treasure hunters or something have to go through hordes of bandits orcs and undeads as well as wicked guards that want nothing more then money (yes those do exist!) and not having to PVP all the time but that you can offer the bad guys something good in return for the info or whatever you need, perhaps with some pvp element. Perhaps ending with a huge free for all battle between all the guilds involved. Like putting alliances and peace treaties aside to get this item or whatever it is! Those kind of events.. not that those exist but that would be cool.

17) prefer not to big ones, with to many people it feels tedious, and enjoy it if the events are not all the goodies must save the kidnapped goodie leader or it will be late for its dentist appontment kind of fluff, and not completly fond of the whole "world will end unless we save it by gathering weird gizmos"

18) Lately the Umbra classes have all intrigued me but that is just a personal preference because of my character conception.

19) I like battles that are fairly equal in numbers. RP events where a town has a market or other event happening. Large rp scenerios that others can get involved in and have an impact on, not just those that the leader of the scenerio would like to.

20) Scenarios, and battles connected to them.

21) Player created events such as the recent Trinsic Moot, etc..

22) Markets and Moots. The University is cool too.

23) Ones that many people can take part in but not have to end in fighting.

24) I don't like events that much, I prefer spontaneous role-play.

25) I like battles, but not only for the PvP. I like war scenarios because of the drama that comes out of them. A war should affect everyone, not just the people who are fighting. There should be impact on citizens and so forth. During the week long Kaldorian invasion of Trinsic, we had citizens forming a resistance and serfs trying to send us poison pies and all sorts. Very stressful for me at the time, but everyone else had a real blast.
These days, war seems to be about meeting up for a weekly battle, and maybe the odd caravan on the side, while everyone else carries on oblivious.

26) Any - from dueling to just talking...

27) One that involves more than 2 guilds. Markets, large battles etc

28) Open-ended events like the Britain and Trinsic moots.

29) Events that have a start with no end, they're allowed to grow naturaly with only alittle input for direction (input given IC not OOC). Also events where people are willing to react on the spot to things that happen without the usual 'but thats NOT part of the plan!' often resulting in sulks/strops and total isolation for weeks.

30) Long-lasting things that evolve and encompass multiple "events". More like scenarios I suppose. One-off events are nice to have to fill up the time (the usual jousts, weddings & tea parties etc) but events that connect with each other and have effect on future events keep people interested.

31) different. It depends of lot of things.

32) Chatty. Something where the outcomes are not pre-arranged.

33) serious events that mean stuff. events that build a sense of identify for groups of people. IG prejudices, flaunts of power, politics, spying, skirmishes, open war, resource gathering which actually leads to making real useable stuff. think of the events that make UO into a bit of an RTS. just the real stuff i love! moots... pointless chatty events... all that stuff just really hacks me off.

34) Unanswered

35) Big scale battles , meetings , highprofile or not, political games where people aint politicly correct but act as its really is in "old times"

36) Fun ones (I know it is not the answer you want but will have to do)

37) one that brings everyone togehter like a moot,

38) Unscripted scenarios... where ANYONE can get involved, scenarios that dont evolve around a few select people, and can actully be manipulated by total strangers.

39) Fighting, of course. You can talk to eachother whenever you want, but busting eachothers chops wontoly always makes for a nice break

40) any apart from ones where you have to deal with peopel who can talk for hours and say nothing

41) riddle/mystery, non-combat

42) Prefer as in taking part in: Anything that brings different people together like Umbra University, markets, the trinsic moot or 'simple' tavern evenings. Anything really that gives oportunities for interaction and isn't just a prelude to RP-PvP.

43) - Whole campaigns.

44) peaceful ones. I don't like PvM or PvP in UO; when I want to fight, I log on to World of Warcraft because their PvM and PvP are much better.

45) I don't mind. Any sort.

46) That depends on my own mood aswell, sometimes one likes a true dungeon crawl, sometimes PvP battle, sometimes a good old market, it's usualy best when lots of people are around.

47) Natural ones. Go with the flow.

48) I'm rather openminded to events.

49) taverns, markets.

50) - A political meeting/An arcane meeting/anything which involves talking and interaction

nb I hate markets and tavern nights beyond belief. I cant follow whats being said on screen or in my journal [assuming theres a few attendees] and the whole thing gives me a headache and ends up like being at WBB.

51) Anything which allows and preferably promotes character development, by which I mean not solely mindless PvP, although I accept that those events do have their place. Otherwise, anything at all.

52) i enjoyed the umbra university lectures, occasional frivolous type events, but prefer ongoing non scripted scenarios where your imagination can lead, and not always the "bah humbug" thing.

53) PVP

54) The types that evolve a storyline in one direction or another. Static, meaningless fights, no matter how big, are boring. Everyone's seen them a hundred times.

Results - hard one to call/judge but rough answers trends:

PvM 4
Scenario[Puzzle Solving/Campaigns] 13
Debate/Meetings/Talking 7
PvP 9
Entertainment/Umbra Lectures 5
Markets 4
Taverns 2

So it seems like players want scenarios and campaigns which encompass puzzle solving, some meetings and debates with some meaningful pvp.
