RP Questionairre - The Results - Part Nine!

9 - Would you like to be more involved in EM events?

1) I would, but it's up to us to get involved with them. If they don't happen at a regular time, we can't get involved. I'm disappointed at the number of RPers I see when there. Perhaps it's because we're 'above' playing with EA events because they don't personally involve us, instead of opening it out to everyone?

2) while I have no idea of what an EM event is (ElectroMagnetic?) I'm surely wishing to get more involved, roleplaying is my lifeblood and daily bread, whithout roleplaying I might just return to play world of warcraft for what I care.. Any game system, any power, any equipment, any monster slain, any stat, any spell, any thing in the game, is simply totally pointless if there aren't others to play with, The community is the key for a succeful game, the game system for as good as it is (like WoW) will become pointless whithout friends or whithout the meaning that only other people can give it.

3) Yes, but as we try to maintain a pre-AoS culture (no magic items or jewellery, over-powered skills) we usually can't get a look-in with the monsters now inflicted in the Monty Haul process needed to cater for most players. The timings are also useless for us - most members have families and 11/midnight Friday starts are daft. We live with it though. In addition, we pretty unanimous in hating the item-reward nonsense that brings such antipathy from some. Elendrik however has been very good, and he popped around to our old village a couple of times to leave messages, which were really valued.

4) Yes

5) I would like to, if they weren't usually at impossible hours of the day

6) Yes, but with hardly any reason to be online, not much of a chance of this unless am lucky.

7) - i'd love too, they just happen too late in the evening though

8) EM events suck. And I think I should stay away from this question. =P

9) Again, no. There way too scripted and too many 'elite' people know the layout of where to get the items/clues before hand
Along with the lagg and spam they just leave me frustrated and not having acheved anything worthwhile in terms of RP

10) NO!!!! Being forced into attenting these makes little sense from past experiance!

11) dunno, don't care. next question :P

12) unanswered

13) No thank you, again they are scripted. And people only go for the pretty sash, and of course you get the non-RP'ers there just for the sash. JJ turning up to the moot was nice, but going to his events, no thank you.

14) I involve myself in them if i wish to be regardless of rp. Its fun if the two overlap as with the blackrock stuff.

15) Unanswered

16) I would like that guilds would get more involved in EM events. This would spread the awareness of both the EM's and the blues and gimps of Europa that active roleplayers exist and are willing to help with whatever the EM's toss at us.
Showing ourselfs is only good. So yes, guilds should join in EM events. And make sure the members know about it, maybe post an IC reason to why we do this and that to help out.

17) Yes i would, only managed to be part of two or so since the start

18) Not sure what this means. If its talking about PvM, the answer is yes. I sometimes miss PvM when I attending to in character matters. I'd like to fit some PvM in-character to my game time, especially if it is with the current UO storylines.

19) I have been involved in them to an extent in the past with a different char but I think its a good idea to involve others too.

20) If I had more time I would, yes. I think the community should be as involved in them as possible.

21) Possibly.

22) EM events tend to be over-populated with people in Artifact Rarity 25 knickers, so I'd have to say no, as it stands. If it was a genuine RP event, and all participating were capable of RP, then sure.

23) Never been sure what EM means but i like to think i do my share. and im allways willing to do more.

24) No as we can't really affect EM events, nothing we say will change the outcome of an EM event and most EM events involve killing ridiculously hard NPC's. That's what is wrong with scripted events, people want to feel that they are a part of the outcome. That they actually made a diffrence.

25) Meh. I?m not fussed. EM events seem to involve dropping ludicrously hard monsters somewhere, and getting us to kill them. Even arti-whores get seven shades knocked out of them and stand to lose a lot of insurance money. RP guilds in crafted goods don?t have a snowball?s chance in hell.

26) Time permitting yes i would, but uni is abit busy at the moment so i dont play too often....

27) No, they are just NPC monster gank fests.

28) Not really.

29) Depends on the event, most EM events i've attended have the doods spamming for freebies which piss's me off and i log out

30) Definitely, but they always happen when I'm not around. Our guild usually incorporates whatever the official events bring up into our own activities, so they're a good jump starter for things to do and investigate.

31) I don`t think EA able to do better then we doing. They make events for those who not part of any community and can`t entertain yourself.
but sometimes aye - I take part in some they do

32) Yes, but that's hard to put into practice. I don't really like the mighty monster hunt type of event.

33) no, if the EMs had any idea of RP, character and a proper storyline then maybe, but as it is jorden jurrel was clueless and rubbish. it was nice having an official guy RPing a high powered character, that was fantastic, but he just didn't understand storyline and he didn't know anything about backgruonds of guilds... he needed to get clued up.

34) Unanswered

35) Yes but it wont happen since im an antiloyalist and therefor am excluded from 99% of the events and also the timezones do their bit to exclude me more.

36) I am sometims involved, is fine for me

37) Yes

38) Yes.

39) Not really. SPAWN MORE OPHIDIANS LEWT PLX? Nah.

40) couldn't care less

41) One alt is very involved already, my RP-char is not. I?d say yes.

42) No idea, never been involved in one. They are usually too late for me.

43) - I'm neutral to that aspect of RP.

44) Only if they find a way to reduce the lags and will announce the EM event time in advance. I'm a casual player, I have no time to sit and wait for an event.

45) Dont know what it means so I aint bothered.

46) That could be fun so, yes.

47) Later.

48) It really depends on the Monsters - No more Ophidians!

49) These seem to be on at the wrong time for me.

50) - Yes but its almost impossible due to the no pre-warning and the fact that they tend to happen late on a Saturday night when all sensible players should be in the pub, a nightclub or bed.

51) Yes, some of them are fun, and it?s a great opportunity to get involved with people who might not normally roleplay or consider roleplaying. I?ve had some good interaction with the Bloodguard and the other groups associated with them. Roleplayers shouldn?t shut themselves off and be an exclusive clique. We?re part of the shard .. we may do things differently to most, and have some weird ideas and behaviours, but that?s no reason to ignore everyone else and act like they don?t exist. Besides, although the events are often very badly timed for us in Europe, the ongoing fiction associated with them is available to all and that?s proving very interesting at the moment. I encourage ************** to join in when they can.

52) would be nice, but I always seem to miss them. would have participated more most likely, i just stopped because there is either a) lots of spammers, b) just always miss the time & place, so it seemed somewhat useless to get involved at that point. Also I just figure I'm not exactly one of the "big players" anyways that folks want to involve

53) What is EM?

54) EM what?

Results Summary

Yes 17
No 11
Dont Know what an EM event is [take note EA!] 6
They are too hard to attend 9
Not bothered 7

So thats really:

Yes 17
No 33

So It looks like EA and the EM needs to do some things to attract some players to its events [could start by making them not at 3am Uk Time] and find a way to educate some players as to what an EM is and what an EM does.

[No criticism of our current EM just pointing out the results]
