Looking for some sources

A friend of mine is trying to do some world building for D&D, hes got this whole futuristic motif going, and I was wondering if there were are sci-fi fans out there who might point me to some decent linnks for ideas I could toss him. Maybe borrow/adapt a few to his liking. Im more of a fantasy type, so Im not much help in this regard, I just lend my political learnings and help him fill out the intergalactic intrigue.

Anyway, thanks for anything that comes my way!

I suggest that he draws from real events of the past three centuries, mingles them with fresh ideas, and adapts them to his own world. Seems to be a popular method of finding a story.. worked for Firefly, at least.

Good luck to him, says I.

There's a hell of a lot of sci-fi out there - depends whether he wants to go cyberpunk or space opera. William Gibson is the grand daddy of cyberpunk (see also Blade Runner) but if he wants something more spacey, check out Larry Niven. Ringworld would make an interesting game world.
