No. But really. Where did all the babble go? Why is it so dead? How active's UO? Stuff to do? Worth £10 to have a poke about and see?

Sumi

Id rather you downloaded the new KR client and tried installing that just to be able to read the [justified] torrent of abuse that you would aim at it ... or then again I dare say you might surprise me and say how much you love it.

Vesper seems currently very active [as Yew is and there are bits in Trinsic also with the Gangs of Trinsic thing etc - which would prob suit you?]

Worth £10?

The way I work it if you play for 5 hours then @£2/hour its not bad entertainment and comparable with a cinema ticket.

So I guess its probably worth a poke for £10.

Kaldor's dead but as Callum says, Vesper, Cove and Yew seem to be doing well. Perhaps you might fancy getting involved in Devante's Gangs of Trinsic thing?

I badly need to get my RL sorted out. I dropped out of uni and thus don't get a loan anymore. I've never had a full time job in my life, so getting one of those takes some sort of priority. Once I can establish a regular source of income I'll probably look to burning a few evenings a week on UO again, tbh. What's the craic with the gangs thing, btw?

How active has it been? How often are scuffles just getting wtfpwned by the local Guards? Are any "civvie" types even stupid enough to go near the 'dangerzones'? I just skim read it, but it sort of looked good in theory but I can imagine it being a bit like "Ebil guild? Ok - go play over there away from us" in practice.

I only know about it from the thread below this one but I've directed Devante to this thread so hopefully he can tell you more. I've not been in game much myself.

The Guild was created just under a week ago, so it isn't what i would call an active guild yet. Theres two gang leaders at the moment, we need some more active leaders and members before the thing really comes to life.
As for getting "wtfpwned" by local guards, thats really not the idea, the idea is that it is small gangs fighting for control of the shades. The idea popped into my head a couple of years ago after seeing the film "Gangs of New York", the Five Points = The Shades, so thats the sort of thing we're aiming for. I'm not saying that the guild can't fight guards, I just don't want it to be Guards vs Gangs all the time, the occasional organised riot should be acceptable, and i'm not expecting GofT to be full of evil characters either, would be nice to have a couple of gangs that try to bring order to the shades.

Please feel free to post any questions or comments on the Gangs of Trinsic Forum

Mmhh, it sounds promising. But what made the Five Points worth fighting over was the fact that it was a busy, swelling distopia of people, crime and influence. How do you plan to emulate that in the out-of-the-way vaccum of Trinsic?

No civilians = no gangs, fundamentally. I by no-means mean to tell you how to do what you're apparently already doing, and I imagine fairly well. But in my experience, gang wars feel slightly futile if you're not really fighting over / for anything interactable.

KR is shaping up fine if you have a moderately competent PC. It's not all the way there yet, but it's much better than it was a few weeks ago.

Sumi is right on point if you ask me, not that anyone had...

Its all about the thick of it all. When the guards are around, the gangs can still assert some intimidation or whatever they do, but they cant just be Ebils as easily. But the guards arent always around, and theres strength in numbers.

Some members of the peasantry probably -like- a gang or two, anyway. In the Five Points, some of these gang leaders were still butchers and other worksmen. They had families, and friends, and neighborhoods to think about and provide for. Its reasonable to assume that, if done properly, each of the gangs could find its niche within a sector of the community of trinisc, or wherever the idea spreads to.

Possibly this gang of order-bringers Devante mentioned could find itself better regarded in the eyes of the law, which at times allows this gang to have a freer hand in the realm of "justice" than the guards are able, bound as they are by the very laws they uphold.

I would think that half the fun of making a gang would be trying to think of your export commodity. You have to have something to -offer- the community who's majority you plan to pilfer. As long as you appeal to your select, safe neighborhood minority, you're fine. "Acting troupes", "Fishermen", anything.

Im late...

Ciao
