On Catskills there was a guild that RPed heavy x-bows as flintlocks. Always kind of irked me. They don't really fit in Sosaria, seeing as the repeating crossbow was a recent and amazing innovation.

Exodus and his minions made the golems. Have you seen any of them firing guns? If someone were to create firearms, wouldn't they have had them? That whole steaming pile of technocracy from Todd "I'm Too Cool For Myself" McFarlane was lame anyway.

Aside from the veteran reward, which would obviously be non-canonical (see: riding polar bears) when's the last time you saw a working cannon? Besides that, any firearms that fit into the setting would be slower and less accurate than archery weapons.

It's always been my opinion that guns need to be kept out of high fantasy. If you want to kill a dragon with a rifle, go play some medieval steampunk.

Then I say if a cannon is only strong enough for providing defense against horde minions and other one-hit kill creatures, what good is a rifle?

Just a note, at the time the UO timeline began Ultima 7 hadnt happened just yet. Maybe British returned to Earth and got the Musket for Ultima 7 *nods* BUt yeah, Ultima 7 and on, and the events there in, didn't necessarily happen IN uo. But what do I know. :-P
