I found surviving mage attacks just about doable, it's actually causing enough damage to put them down which was hard.

there were only a few mages who could put their spells together well enough that they could take just about anyone down, but there were a large amount of mages who were able to survive 1 on 1 well enough.

on the battle field was a completely different kettle of fish. mages turned into very fragile beings then, but also even more potent damage dealers!

necro mages were only really a great threat in duels, on the battle field i always thought necro was a bit of a waste of time on a mage. was good on warriors though! the extra healing from SS and the ranged pain spike is a fantastic addition to heavy infantry!
