Reason books get picked up in Haven is not becuase of -OH- i assure you but because Haven is like New player central and everyone goes there particulalry certain noobs that cause trouble for me in paticular.. My books in Haven are gone withint 5 seconds. And everyone also drops everything outside the bank making it a danm mess, To avoid that i set updonation chests for the young players and such, Gues how long they were there, bout 5 seconds, Its anoying butn tohing we can really do.

Well -V- does leaflet drops once in a blue moon, and we never purposely do it on anyone elses turf, except Haven where we do it pretty lightly and rarely regardless of permission to. Frankly though, -V- will remove any books that arent Vespers or some of the more excessive Covian displays (big patchworks of cloth and torches circling the moongate type things some of them do and just leaving the book on a tile of cloth) from the Vesper Moongate, Vesper Town and our area in South Vesper; especially Royalist ones.

I think it smacks of laziness in some ways too; but in alot of other ways its an excellent way of leaving a sign saying that RP is alive on Europa, we're out here, and you can come find us with X ICQ details, Y website and Z place in UO. Thats pretty integral to getting new people roleplaying and ultimately getting more people to stay in UO with fun things to do with their time.

Some guilds might do it excessively, and be overly competetive in trying to rake in new recruits. But either way when these new roleplayers join any guild, they meet other roleplaying guilds who are obviously different, they might sooner or later decide to spread out into other parts of the community with alts who might later become mains. Its the natural way of things as far as I've seen over the years. So keep pumping those books, doing recruitment tours and whatnot I say.

I do not go out of my way to find them Devante, but if i do see them on my travels i do indeed bin them. This is no secret and i have stated this many many times in the past.

My reasons for doing this are in my post further up this thread.

Last ones I threw away were yours actually. placed right next to my house and the swaggers inn. I fail to see however where anyone said they targetted only your books.

I don't think there's anything wrong with recruitment "leaflets" for army type guilds, in fact I've said a few times that they should set up a stall at markets or in busy areas, to be a sort of recruiting office.
I would never put books out for joining the serfs though, it wouldn't be right. Being a serf is hardly a career move!

Those were not placed there by me. I only place at Britain, Haven, moongates and some of the cities that have no rp community in them.

But your answer tells me enough now. It is clear someone out there has an issue with E-V (or myself)

Callum tip #12a

Instead of using recruitment books to get new members simply add gilded members of other guilds to your "party" and ask them to join your guild! Offer them endless cyber sex, rares, arties and fame! Better still ask their GM if you can "have" all their current members! Much quicker than recruitment books and a lot more fun!

Me neither really, but some effort should be put into recruiting really. Just chucking some books on the floor in the hope someone picks them up is just plain bone arsed lazy!

Tabbitha hit the nail on the head, whats wrong with giving them to players? Whats wrong with giving them out during a event? (preferably one you created ) But i guess this is just too much work for some sadly, they just throw books all over the place and moan when people pick them up or decide to have a tidy up.

*also makes a mental note to secretly join A^K to get some filthy guildchat from Cal*
