Rak'suun

[OOC-These are the records of Gregor the healer, the only NPC healer to stay in Trinsic. Other NPC's will spawn and then vanish, but Gregor always remains. I have decided to break his silence-he deserves to be heard at last. There is not a single person that has not yelled at him, or cursed him for his ungentle care. So here is his story-his struggle to heal those that would have him leave.]

I have not written in these records for quiet some time. It has always been the task of the resident Guildmaster of my order to do so-but they have a habit of leaving the city soon after they arrive. I cannot blame them, what with the massive workload and the attitude of the patients that frequent our workplace. The last few weeks, though, have compelled me to take up where my predecessors left off.

Trinsic is falling rapidly into disrepair. The healers hut has always been chaotic, and sometimes I am forced to watch or do things that make me question my faith in the Virtues. Despite what many-in fact, all-claim, I have been saving the lives and treating the wounds of any that are brought through my door for years. Few have been the words of thanks, and many have been the curses at my ungentle hands. Despite this lack of faith in my ability, not many have been lost under my care-I have saved more people then I haven’t, and that is all a healer can hope for. This last fiasco, though, has certainly been the worst of my career.

Kimi the healer and the small child Keina have been brought to me, to be placed under my direct care by order of His Grace the Duke of Trinsic. He has gone so far as to order the hut sealed off from all other persons, in order to help these two recover. I am satisfied with his ruling…now if only people would obey their liege lord. Kimi lies chained to a bed; while I understand the reasoning behind this action, it still turns my stcmach to see a talented healer treated thusly. However, whatever respect I have for her as a healer is neutralized by her current state. She is not well mentally or physically, and she is not leaving my care until she is stable.

What they are doing to the child, though, makes me sick. She cannot speak but for simple phrases in drow, her body is nearly completely destroyed, and no one seems to care about her state. The one-handed drow guard, Rak’suun, screams in her defense and draws his sword at every corner. Her "father" is even worse-he locked her in a cell! A prison cell! And Captain Kaelyn helped him, or at least let him. All of Kaldor is waiting for war, the Royal Marksmen will probably side with them, the Duchy guards are torn to shreds, half of them ignoring the commands of the Duke. This city is dying around me, and no amount of skill I have can save it.

I am no politician, though. I am a healer-let the entire city rot. I cure the sick; my only wish is to get my wards healthy again. I pray the Duke, in his wisdom, will help me with this. He seems to agree with me, but Kaelyn will certainly oppose anything I do. She is quiet ridiculous; I’ve saved her life many times, so I should have some respect from her. I deserve some respect from all the people of the Duchy, and dozens from other places!

To hell with it. And they wonder why I am not gentle.
