24th August

Since I am now an adult, and my own person I decided to keep a diary, and here it is… a new life, a new diary, a new pen and a new bottle of ink…

Today was my interview. I was so nervous, I think the Duke did like me, we had a nice long chat about what I could do for him and the City. I explained how I wanted to give back to the city for its kindness in raising me. He wrote me a letter to give to the lady at the Inn and now I am her apprentice. She seems nice, but she gave me an odd look when she found out I was from the orphanage. I bet she thinks I will steal from her or something.

Something very bad happened today, I was crossing the bridge out of Trinsic when a “nice” man said he would escort me to the Rose because there were dangerous things about. But then he *rest of sentence is quite wobbly* grabbed me and bit my neck and drank some of my blood. Liana saved me and then Stewan and Liana had to take me to a special pond at a shrine, I had to bathe in the waters to make sure I won’t become a vampire, I just hope it works, the bite itches and burns. Not as bad as before, but still…

Ali came to meet me at the gate, she was upset that I was bitten, she said something about blood dolls, I couldn’t understand and just didn’t want to think any more on it. Then she took me to vesper, to the swaggers - I met Gia, Becca and Jake. They seem really nice and not at all like the nasty militia that came into the town this evening.

Then it was all ruined by that man showing up! He kept grinning and looking at me funny, then he crept up behind me while I spoke with Becca, I couldn't help but run and hide... I don't want to be a vampire. I feel so bad now... I ran all the way back to the moongate and back to the town. I must apologise to Ali and the rest tomorrow, I just couldn't stay there, I wanted to be safe.

Chloe closes her diary and clasps it firmly to her chest as she lays her head to sleep, feeling mixed emotions on what she believes is a bad day she begins to drift off into a restless sleep...

25th August

I woke early this morning and got straight to work in my new job cleaning the main Inn area before the guests started to wake. I also had to run back and forth to the old washer woman to collect the cleaned sheets, she was a bit creepy and a little overly nice. I will have to try carrying more at a time to avoid going back there so much.

This evening I went to Magincia to watch acts apply for a carnival that will be held soon, I really do hope I get to go to this one, Hildy told me all about the last one. I would love to see the talking dragon and the princess. Summer, one of the organisers I think, was offering me a job to help out but then that vampire showed up again. Hildy jumped up to stop him coming closer, but I fled into the corner, I feel so stupid!

Hildy and a lady named Herenui had to convince me to leave and be escorted back to Trinsic, but I felt so bad for making them have to leave the carnival auditions. I hope they’re not disappointed.

I met Isidore today, he notice me! We actually spoke, me and the Duke’s son, two whole sentences! But then it went quiet, perhaps he saw the bite on my neck and thought the worst of me...

Ali took me to the keg and Anchor with Alraune and Adam. They are really nice people, so friendly and even though I felt nervous around them they were very understanding. Ali even paid for me to have my cards read, Alraune told me of finding love and having a bright future. I wish it comes true, I just want to be happy.

26th August

Everyone was invited to Marble Island to look around, I admit I was curious myself, but then I recognised the woman inviting us was someone Captain Liana had said was connected to that vampire. She said he might be there and quite rudely said she couldn’t guarantee I would be safe. I really don’t like her, she is mean and rude to me for no reason and even seems to think it was my fault her pet vampire bit me!

I still feel a little bad, because after that Stewan, Herenui, Alraune and Adam decided not to go on the tour too, she said there could be worse things than the vampire there and so because of that and her unwillingness to say I would be safe they all stayed behind with me. It looked like Adam really did want to go there, I hope he didn’t mind too much. I really wouldn’t have minded them going, but it made me feel all warm inside that they stuck up for me like that. They are really, really nice people.

The rest of my night I spent with Stewan, Summer and Adam in the Keg and Anchor. Summer and Adam were teaching me about men and telling of their first kisses, they said I am not silly for not having had a proper kiss and that my first would always be memorable. Summer then told me that some men can be commanded by women because they are so enthralled by beauty, I tried what she said on Adam and it worked! He bought me a glass of milk and promised to come to the Garden Party this week.

Time to sleep now, I will have to get up a little early so I can clean the bakery for Stewan, we agreed I would do it for five of his apple pies. I would have been happy to do it for him as a friend, but his pies are so heavenly I just could not resist, I will savour one myself and I am sure the other four will be enjoyed just as much by my friends in the orphanage.

29th August

I am so lucky I have had the best two days EVER!

Yesterday Ali gave me some very beautiful clothes, in an extremely nice blue colour, Summer and Ali were amazed when I put the dress on, and I felt like a real lady not a little girl. Even Stewan did not recognise me in the clothes, and mistook me for someone else. Then Summer gave Stewan some coins and told him to buy me, Ali and Summer each a new dress that showed off our legs, apparently he is very fond of legs. I don’t know why though, Summer and Ali both found my confusion amusing, sometimes I don’t understand everything they talk of. Unfortunately soon after putting mine on I started to feel very giddy and had to lie down. I ended up falling asleep and Stewan never got to see the dress he picked for me, maybe another time.

Felt much better today when I woke, I got to work on time, but apologised anyway, she seems to like to remind me I should be grateful that I’m allowed to work for her. I finished up early to take a walk around Trinsic. There was a soldier who came to town dressed in green and called himself Edward the Kaldorian. He wasn’t nice at all and when I told him guards would soon arrive he just laughed and said he would slay them all. I was so relieved when Liana arrived at the gate.

Later when walking outside of town I met Isidore again, he actually remembered my name, and more than that he spoke to me a long while and even took me for a drink in the Rose, I was so nervous my cheeks must have looked the colour of tomatoes. Even though the party had been cancelled I still had a chance to show of my dress, Alraune, Adam and Isidore were all smiling at me. I felt very awkward though, such a dress doesn’t really belong on my shoulders.

I’m hoping to go to the carnival on Saturday, I told Adam and Alraune I would be there so I am hoping I can get the time away from work if I ask really nicely so I won’t disappoint them.

4th September (Morning)

I feel so ill! My head is pounding as if some unseen thing is hitting it repeatedly, my body aches and im tired. I just want to sleep but I can't, she's already on the warpath because I over slept.

Summer warned me about drinking too much wine, I should of listened to her, she told me I'd be ill, it was only a couple of glasses though... I think.

At some point last night I remember some one in red armour came into the Rose and tried to rob me, Jake and Summer. Jake asked him outside so me and Summer could run back to town, but he caught up with me and a wounded Jake at the gate of Trinsic. He started to wave his axe at me and demanded gold, I panicked and Jake gave him some of his. As the man sped away laughing a book fell from him.

We found some amusement in the Book, it looks really old and is called "Crimson Tides" By N'iilaryn Garlen, the first page says that it should be guarded as if it was your purse. It seems this man did not care for it at all and just let it fall.

We all had a look at it and it seems like it is a some sort of guide for thieves and assasins, this can't be good so I will give it to the guards, hopefully the secrets the book claims to hold will be of use to them. Until then it has been safely hidden like Summer and jake said.

She's shouting me again, all I want to do is crawl back under my covers and wake up tomorrow...

7th September

It has been an interesting but confusing couple of days. Ali and me have fallen out, she got angry that I had been drinking wine and she said it was because of that the man in red tried to rob me.

The book I st found has caused alot of problems, he has been back several times now, searching. Gwen has warned me he has been looking for it alot, she told him she burnt the original and this made him mad and he tried to attack her but hurt the Duke instead, all because of me. She tried her best to tell me it was good that I found the book and that it could help so many more, but I feel bad.

I did really badly at the job Stewan gave me, I have only been able to sell two things and they were both to myself. I think my gloomy face scared away any chance of customers, I will do my very very best tomorrow for him and for Summer, she managed to persuade him it would be a good idea to hire me, even if it was a little too forward.

Tomorrow will be a better day I have decided. The sun will hopefully shine, and I will sell all the things Stewan gave me to sell and then if I finish early enough maybe I can go visit Alraune and Adam.
