Looking into a mirror and not reconising the face

Sitting in the middle of the top floor of his dojo the sights and sounds of the swamp lessening, the day creatures bedding down while the nocturnal ones waking the light from the sun disappearing over the horizon, and Kai just sits there thinking. His journal laying open at his last entry. The wind russles the branches of the tree within the walls a couple of blossom petals flutter past and Kai just sighs, the talk with Stewan, Gwen, Elion and Miss Wraith heavy on his mind... especially the part where Gwen said she could deliver a message to his parents,
"I have not seen nor contacted them since leaving Heartwood" he says to himself... "I don't even think that they would approve of what I have become... but they should know of Virelle surely."
Muttering again "They won't even reconise me if they saw me in passing, why now should I think of them when over the years of my trainning they didn't even enter my mind why now?"

He gets up and steps onto the telepad that will lead him to the lower room then on the other one that leads to the ground floor, opening the sliding doors he steps into the courtyard, the sent from the blossom tree over powers that of the swamp, but something else permented through the air, it was that of tea brewing chuckling to himself he knew that Virelle was home and from the smell brought her work back with her. Using the stairs he climbed up into the house, once there he looked into the mirror, he paused, looking into the reflection, he didn't know that Virelle had come up from the kitchen he muttered. "When the time comes and you look into the mirror and yet fail to reconise yourself you need to step back and look where you lost track of who you are...."
"What is that Kai?"

Startled somewhat he turned to look at her, she stood there in one of her meny outfits her earrings made from hard won diamonds at the rose, "Oh just quoting somethin my love that's all..."
"Oh? another Samurai saying that you have yet to teach me?"
"Nay, nothing like just the last chat and advice that was given to me from my father..."
"Oh?"

"Hai, I think it is time to gather my courage and finially go and see them again, been along time since I last saw them might be good to rebuild a burnt down bridge, would you care to come with me.... to Heartwood that is?".....

Virelle stood looking at Kai considering his offer to go with him to Heartwood.
"Love?", Kai asked after a few moments awaiting a reply.
She looked back to him as her head looked to the floor by now and nodded slowly. "I do not have any memories of Heartwood, family moved away when I was too young to remember anything there."

Kai reached his hands taking hers giving them a reassuring embrace, "I understand Virelle, I also planned to tell my parents of us. You being there with me would be wonderful. Perhaps new memories can be made there."
Virelle took one of her hands and placed it gently on his cheek and nodded. "I will go with you Kai, I would love to." She leaned in and gave him a soft kiss. "Would you like to come downstairs and have a cup of tea? Maddy and I are trying new teas. We could talk more over some."
"Domo Love, I will be down in a few moments." Kai told her.
She smiled with a nod letting go of him and slowly glided down stairs.

Over the brewing tea she began to try to remember any memories of Heartwood, or even the reason why her and her family moved from there to Zento in the first place. She placed her hand upon her heart shaped pendant. Silently she thought to herself, why compassion was instilled in her by her parents, to always be forgiving and have a strong heart. For there was never a reason she was given, just that it was taught to her and with the way her parents gently told her she never had the reason to question it. Perhaps in Heartwood she would find the reason, Or, until she goes back to her own parents to introduce Kai to them.

Just then Kai came down the stairs. She let go her pendant and filled two cups of tea and walked to the table and set them down and sat beside him.

It has been a week since the cup of tea in the kitchen, the talk about going to Heartwood and finally the decision for them both to go, Thinking to himself while just taking a stroll in the darks of Shame, he has to somehow hide what they both are from the guard of the Militia in Yew. He was in no doubt the numbers of the guards wouldn't be a problem, they hardly venture into the main square in Yew, but then there is always the off chance of a trainning exercise going on. He stopped because of his hertiage seeing in the dark was easy and that a couple of earth eles shambled towards him, his sword was already at his side, side stepping all the attacks he dodged and weived past them in a blur his sword cut through the middles of the two elements, whirling and releasing his sword he watched it cleave through the head of another. Dislodging his sword from the dead element he continued his stroll, deeper into the dungeon.
