A Samscarian Testament

Samsca glowered as he sat in a darkened corner of the swaggers. The world was turning in manners that had not been foreseen. This civil war amongst the loyalists was a most brilliant opportunity and yet those pitiful peace mongers amongst the north were seeking to diminish the glory of Vesper. Did these creatures imagine that peace with the south would accomplish anything? Did these folk believe that the wrath of Vesper had been dimmed in recent times? The infantile claims that Vesper owed Trinsic something for some self-serving actions was laughable. Samsca might well have laughed in that silent tavern had his own anger not been bubbling at the surface of his thoughts.

It would seem as usual that the world must be turned to suit Vesperian needs. If Davion would not take up the mantle and lead the crusade then he must be forced. With the Baron absent, unreachable such seemed a perfect opportunity to put things beyond the reach of the negotiators; the increasingly decadent hand of clan Twothumb. The question however remained for Samsca how to inspire the people to war once again. It would begin with scribed words thought Samsca. If need be further actions to raise the fading pride of that most blessed Republic.

People of Vesper! Free men and women all, read my words and take heed of the message! For a time now dark rumours have been traversing our Republic that we shall go in aid to the accursed nobility of Trinsic. I say that this must not be so. That most malign city of deceit, debauchery and shadowed rats has not changed. It is not some poor state who is suffering the unprovoked assaults of Yewish hands. It is the arch-bastion of backwardsness. It is the lair of the most antiquated inequity. Why should we shed fair and free Vesperian blood to aid that miserable fop known to most as the Duke of Trinsic? A man who it seems is reduced due to the paltry state of his own armed forces to employ mercenaries and brigands beyond all contempt.

This is not to say we should do something as foolish as support the tyrant of Yew. Klion may be the opponent of the realms but he is not the only foe to be considered. The Yew have many qualities which make them superior to the average shadow rat citizen of Trinsic. They have the valor to face us in open battle and suffer the righteous smiting which is their destiny against revolutionary arms. They have pursued reasonable policies in regard to dealing with the accursed underbelly of that most dank pit Trinsic. This civil war amongst the loyalist powers shall likely pass in time as their leaders recall their hatred of our liberty.

But be not concerned Vesperians. These are revolutionary times. History is well and truly upon our side and its view hath turned to Trinsic. It is destined that the feeble nobility of that city shall be rendered as a passing way. The accursed drow of that city must be put to the torch by the hands of Yewish zealots. Then we shall enter the fray. The Trinsicians who are of sound mind and outlook shall see that with their leaders as dust and their overlords slaughtered that they too can rise as free men and women. When such occurs we must enter in with all our power permits to save Trinsic from the loyalist assault. We shall be victorious. Trinsic shall become our fair brother to the south under the enlightened rule which has made Vesper great. Then we can bring the same to the Yewish who strain under the ever present Klionist yoke.

So should we be idle in the passing times? No. We have great works too accomplish. A vile collection of brigands hath seen fit to despoil the tranquillity of the north. They consider us fat and rich after our exertions to liberate Minoc. We shall show them they have the folly of dead men. Raise the black arrow and let their blood stain the frozen ground. Each and every one of these miserable creatures who has insulted our most beloved Baron must be put to the sword. Such was action in the time of your ancestors and so it must be again! With these vermin, who it is said act as auxiliaries for that most accursed Duke, are put down then we can turn once again to the liberation of the unfree world.

For Vesper is the vanguard of freedom. Many wait under the shadow of oppression for our signal. We are the guiding light. These are revolutionary times! Let it not be said that Vesper was found wanting!

For Greenie!

Samsca browsed through the writings. It wasn?t perhaps the best written call for action but since it effectively asked for no action that was perhaps inevitable. With some fortune this would at least inspire some form of hunt for these brigands as would have occurred in times past. Children should not bate bears. It was time certain folk learned this the hard way.
