Kade.

Kade had recently stopped spending any excessive amount of time within Trinsic’s walls, to avoid being provoked into any sort of petty fight. This was due to rumours being spread about Kaldor “apparently” on the verge of an alliance with Vesper, which understandably was a controversial issue. Everywhere he’d walked in the last few weeks he’d been scowled at and scorned upon solely due the uniform he wore. People of late had stopped judging those around themselves as individuals, yet as part of the bigger picture, and this confused him greatly. Kade took up a quill in his left hand and taking his time carried on from where he’d left off, writing about his concerns in a leather bound diary he‘d recently bought.

These people simply don’t understand, and perhaps never will, they‘ll never take the time or effort to be familiar with the complexities within Kaldor. I am a sentinel of Dondinia, I live to protect those around myself, not destroy, such as those who worship Raza. I don’t care for politics, who’s at war with who seems to change with the wind, there’s no reason to involve myself in petty arguments and issues I can never influence. Yet these people seem to be doing everything they can to try and provoke a reaction. I simply carry out my bloody orders, they are not my personal feelings and vendetta‘s speaking… They’re my superiors, and I have to respect them…

He took a few moments to try and recollect his thoughts, before closing the diary in frustration. He then tossed it over the stone bridge he’d been sat on the ledge of. Kade had always struggled to express his thoughts through the use of a quill, and had come to the conclusion that putting his feelings onto parchment would not achieve anything other than him being able to read over them and dwell on the matter. Jumping down from the ledge, he took a long walk north of Minoc, near Valoria, a place which held many memories for him also giving him some time to go over a few issues in his head.

If ordered to fight an enemy, he would instinctively protect his fellow comrades in the army, even if this meant fighting against those he considered as close friends. It was his job to do so. This was something Kade had never agreed with, but slowly over the course of time within the army he’d spent, had learned to accept. If he didn’t, he knew the harsh realities of consequence. Zool, and Cal Soulshadow had taught him well. Their particularly brutal method of education, involved being repeatedly hit in the head with the butt of Zool’s axe until his face poured with blood, and he lost all vision in his eyes due to the intense pain. That punishment, or “lesson”, was severe and carried out because he’d stepped in-between Zool, and his prey at the time Moiraine. Yet it had taught Kade the importance of separating his emotions, from his duties within the Army. If he hadn’t learnt this, he’d most likely be dead.

What surprised and concerned Kade most of all lately, is that many of his ‘old friends’ now seemed to be cautious of him. Almost untrustworthy of him. He had given them absolutely no reason to be, and most likely never would.

He genuinely thought they’d have had more sense than to believe that the Army of Kaldor’s actions represented every individual soldier’s personal opinion….
