Bladius Dart

The seventh took his seat, muttering apologies for his lateness. All had attended to discuss an urgent matter.
“A situation occurred earlier today -” one began, his steely blue eyes staring critically at a heap within the confines of a cell, then up and deliberately towards a young man clad in iron across the table.

“It seems in their haste to appease the masses… someone ordered the execution of an official from the Capital.” His eyes remained fixed upon the same stocky Sergeant.

“No doubt this will be investi-” A deafening roar drowned out the sentence, causing the very walls to shudder. “The hell was that?” the speaker continued, his voice raised in surprise whilst glancing up to the ceiling as dirt and dust began to rain down upon them. “Corporals take a look outside!”

They nodded obediently hurrying over to the heavy iron doors, small stones clattering off the obsidian platemail of the Besieger as he carefully placed his helmet upon his head. The Waywatcher cautiously reached out to the door, tugging firmly upon the handle, the door refusing to budge. She glanced back momentarily, her eyes widening in horror.

Eyes and ears a few hundred feet away watched and listened intently as a colossal explosion ripped through the Citadel interior.

And then there was silence.
Two wide-eyed Trainees stumbled into the wreckage, ordered by the impatient Besieger to help him up. Brushing aside rocks and stones, the Trainees worked diligently before struggling to haul the Corporal to his plate clad feet.
“Assist them!” he bellowed, indicating with his now drawn axe to the Marksman and Waywatcher heaped on the floor, buried beneath dust and debris.
“Y-yes sir!” one Trainee replied, his comrade coughing violently as a thick vaporous odour flowed about the room and out through an unhinged door. The Corporal followed.
