The crystal hummed as the warm blood of the deer was poured over it. Not even flies moved in the forest glade as the robed and shrouded figure talked into the crystal. ?I went there and found it. Only some of the things were there master. I will return them to you at the tavern soonest. ? The figure then packed its tools away. It indulged in a leering grin. They had not noticed these people. Maybe they would never notice. That would be well. The sooner the tasks are done maybe the master would release me. With all the enthusiasm of a moving glacier or growing rock the figure headed towards the tavern in a different forest glade.

Upon arrival Master was there and took the things I had gathered. At least no new pains were gifted me so I did not anger. Master left the tavern in the woods. Perhaps it would be fun to see if any of those humans noticed? Might be wise to measure them in this way. Who knows if master would send me back. A leer creases the leather face. A near by crow blanched then quickly flew off in disgust. The Shade never noticed.
