Night dawned, the echoes of cheerful citizens and peasants alike clamouring in the weak moonlight surrounding the fabled Swaggers inn, interupted only shortly by the cantering of hooves, the shouting of battle hardend soldiers, the screams of horror...

What has not been seen in Vesper was witnessed before the very inn, the fathers rippling with rigid decorum and virteuous seal stood before the townsfolk and patrons alike, the inqusition had arrived..

"Tithe" they asked.

None we had to give..

Sword drawn, cloaks flapping wildy the templars approached the defensless townsfolk and stafff alike, shoving aside the drunk and disorderly as the rabble they presented, the guardsmen pulled reign, seeking coins wihtin the halls of the Swaggers inn.. many was to be had.

"Lies" they claimed we had given them..

We had given them none..

They barged inside, breaking locks and bones alike in there rampant desire to feed the orphans of Yew they said.. to me it still looked like they were searching for treasure, weapons and tools of torture for there own malign intents..

A soft twang of metal hitting wood

A bolt fired.

More screams, more death, more blood.. the inquisition had come.. behold.. they had come.

Laughter of commerce and the banter of old friend reuinted echoed thoroughly throughout the halls of the Swaggers inn, the weeks worries washing away, reimbursed with the washing in of ale and other vesperian consumables.

The night was filled with new entertainment of different sorts, the new girl Lucy showing an adept skill of amazing customers with her tarrot reading, running onto the game of rather advanced truth of dare, the customers rather shocked at the prospect of jumping off buildings...

The evening was quiet otherwise, a soft sigh of the breeze flowing through the barriacdes set up by the Vesperian militia, curiously all men on high alert, rumours had echoed, the militia was massing..
Lies, filthy lies, minutes, hours went by the entertainment proceeding, the militia getting restless tables and ales were brought out.

Hooves, cantering, soft beatings of drums.

Death..



The shrill cries of the wounded and dying followed, the storm quicking as rain poured down on the burning building...

Lone shadow.

Footsteps softly transparent underneath the dew of the rain kisses grass, a person approached, the church doors opening with a rustic creak, the silence throughout the halls non withstanding, a lone figure, clad in brown, silent in prayer.

I reached for him..



We now knew the time... and when...

The war had taken toll on either side, a suprise attack by the militia send the army of Vesper into dissaray, the citizens hiding within the safety of the Swaggers, the militia was not pleased,

"Enough!"

They said..



The voices of the militia had spoken, Thiefs we were, ungrateful, spies, cretins, cravens...

The split was never really a suprise, the tensions had always been high, now was the time for the Avatarian Church to inspire fear into the seperated citizens and militia men...
