Ikus 1st

Orson had not been sleeping very well for a while now. He had turned older, and his memory and mind was starting to deceive him. Pain was something he had not really experienced in a long time, without him understanding why. After his torture by the drow all those years ago, his feelings in his body was almost non existent. The only feeling he had was his interior, which was clearly hurting each day. His wife and daughter though looked as fresh as they always had. They did not grow old like he was. A matter they had talked about on many occasions Imrae and him. She was very understanding in that matter. She was maybe the only person who had really known him for the last 20 years. Maybe besides Ikus and Isolde, but he was always ignoring their questions. It was a bit more difficult hiding from Imraes… As a drow she had her ways of getting the truth out of him.

They had long nagged him about taking it easy. Imrae, Ikus, Kaelyn… Even some of the lads had told him to take it easy. Well, at least be easier on the fighting and running. His legs wasn’t exactly fine anymore. Old wounds had not even healed as they should. His body had felt a lot of beating up through the years. They were starting to make him slower and weaker.

Maybe it was time to listen. He had done all he could. There was not much else he could do anymore. He was of the old guard, Orson. Where your biggest loyalty was with your comrades fighting next to you, and the kingdom second. Even if they all fought for the kingdom. He had seen many come and go over the years. From his early days guarding other places than Trinsic, until todays guard. They were most certainly of a different guard than him. He was always seen as the old grump, but he had always just done his duty as he thought best for all. It was nothing else he knew, or could… Beside maybe hunting.

He did not have much time left. His cough had gotten worse again, and he was very worn. Not that it mattered much, but it was not easy to hide it anymore. So it was not fair for the others to stay. He did not want to discuss this with Imrae though. He knew that she would make him stay a bit longer… But he could not do that.. And he knew she would understand that he had to go. He was never going to be an old man in a chair… His time had come.

He did leave a last note for some saying:

Imrae
It is time fer me leaving. Yer will be fine. Thank yer fer the fine time we had.

Do yer duties well, and listen fer yer mother. I need ter leave now, as yer mother will tells yer. I knows yer will do fine.

Then it was time to pack the bag once more. For the last patrol.

I never knew ORM very well, being mostly based in vesper, but i heard the name many times over the years.

Always sad to see a long timer go.

Nooooooooooo! This is very sad to hear, but not entirely unexpected, as everyone seems to be drifting away now.
Thank you for being a good friend and mentor to me in and out of the game. You were always a great supporter of the Serfs right from the start, and I've had some brilliant fun roleplaying with your characters over the years, even though Orson tormented poor Sally something rotten!
You will be missed, but remember to stay in contact and try to get to another meet. (And this time we will speak more slowly so you can keep up!)
