NEWS FLASH!!

Mass Murder at the Mill
Mutilation of multiple victims

Yesterday evening Guardsman of Yew stumbled across the scene of a mass murder. With a death toll totalling 12 and only 2 survivors this is said to be quite possibly the most horrific crime to hit Yew in decades.
The victims have not yet been named, but we have been informed that it happened at the Yew Mill. The victims; including a baby, two children and a teenage girl, were said to have been mutilated and many with just their entrails remaining.

So far there are no leads as to who commited such a terrifying act, but the two survivors are pointing the finger at Cove.

An interview with the Yewish Captain
Gretcha Gossip: So Mister Dart, what happened this evening?
Captain Dart: Well, what does it look like?
The inhabitants and workers of the Yewish Mill have been slaughtered and in the most brutal manner imaginable. Babies, children, women, old men; butchered!
Gretcha Gossip: Do you have any leads as to who may have been responsible for this?
Captain Dart: I'm not at liberty to say at this stage in the investigation. Although, whoever is responsible can look forward to similar treatment to the children they tore to pieces.
Gretcha Gossip: Is it possible that the perpetrator is still in Yew?
Captain Dart: It's possible, although extremely unlikely with the entire Militia on the highest alert.
Gretcha Gossip: What of the rumours that Cove are guilty of these crimes?
Captain Dart: We cannot base our investigation upon rumours, 'Miss Gossip'. Whilst initial evidence may have suggested Covian perpetrators our investigation is ongoing.
Gretcha Gossip: What are you and the Militia doing to ensure this doesn't happen again?
Captain Dart: It was previously believed that West Yew was amongst the safest districts in Yew, with property in the area being extremely sought after. Despite this atrocity we believe that this is still the case, however we will be doubling our patrols to ensure it remains so.

At this point the captain kindly refused further comment and went to deal with his troops.

Find more details about the crime scene below.
(Please note, those easily offended, young or with weak hearts should skip through this section and the artists interpretation of the scene. It is gory and has turned even the strongest of stomachs. You have been warned).

Letters for the Poste

Quote:
A person ill-informed about Trinsic's past conduct might easily be fooled into thinking that Irvyn's recent pledge of aid to Cove, or more accurately put ‘South Vesper’, is purely a sign of good will and humanitarianism. However, to those of us with an elementary knowledge of Trinsic's past policies, the sheer obviousness of the fact that this is nothing more than a political manoeuvre is quite hilarious.

The first point is that 'loyalist' Trinsic is acting directly in contrast to the will of the king by aiding those who wish to bring down the monarchy. However, this shouldn't surprise anyone. Irvyn has always run Trinsic as a private enterprise with no respect for the duties to his citizens nor the crown that come along with being an appointed ruler. He admires the robber barons that control the assorted rebel towns - for they have managed to maximise their personal profits whilst minimising their associated responsibilities, and the nobles of Trinsic wants to spread this style of governance so that their own similarly degraded style of rule becomes the norm. Trinsic may weakly fly the banner of a loyalist city when convenient, but only a fool would believe that they are in any way committed to the virtues which the crown attempts to uphold. Still, by directly aiding those who want the king and those loyal to him tortured to death, they will convince even the most gullible of their hypocrisy, and thus their actions are an open display of defiance to loyalist principles.

The second point is that the Trinsic ruling class has on numerous occasions proved that they care not a fig for general human suffering. Whilst their poorest citizens starve, they waste a huge chunk of the town treasury on luxuries for themselves. Whilst their workers were bullied, mugged and even murdered by drow and other evil races, they only attempted to appease them and even granted the drow reign of the working class areas of the city. Whilst the underfunded and hard pressed loyalist forces of the north risked life and limb in liberating Minoc from those who wished to keep the citizens slaves, they cavorted, danced and feasted, blissfully unconcerned about the struggle whilst they relished their decadent lifestyle.

Once these points are conceded, one can only conclude that Irvyn is not motivated by good intentions in commissioning this caravan, but by a desire to ensure the menace of the north is kept in peak fighting condition. Of course, as a by-product of the aid some innocent Southern Vesperians may be saved, if the Baron’s thugs do not confiscate it all for themselves, but this is not his chief concern. Primarily, they wish to ensure that the crown does not become too powerful and spread the 'dangerous' concept of social justice elsewhere.

If Trinsic wishes to start using such deceptive tactics to oppose Yew, then they are free to do so. But they should not expect to be able to sit on the fence and throw mud at one side unopposed forever. If the ruling classes of Trinsic wish to make sure their position isn't threatened, they should perhaps refrain from
drawing the attention of the city of justice and its allies.

Sineal Walker,
Besieger Corporal of the Yewish Militia.

The Rebels Attack!
But fail..

Earlier this week, Britain sent a caravan to Yew full of supplies to back them up for this ongoing conflict in the north. One thing they seemingly didn't think through was the possible ambush from the rebels!

Captain Escaflowne of the Vesperian militia lead the attack which nearly paid off, but they wern't consistant enough to finish the Loyalists off.

According to Waywatcher reports, someone inside the royalist camp had informed the Covians and Vesperians of the caravan and its intended path. Acting upon this information the rebel commanders split their forces in two, deploying around Nihon Bridge. Despite having their numbers temporarily stretched, the Northern Allies soon regrouped to outnumber their royalist counterparts and were thereby able to halt their foes' progress.

The slaughtering at the Mill..
The story unfolds!

Concerning the sad news re received ealier this week of a slaugtering of many innocent Yewish workers there, there has been a big developement in the story determing who's responsible.

According to officials in Stonekeep, the Swaggers bar manager, Kiran, was found in stonekeep not so long after the drama unfolded and he stated that he knew of a informant from Cove that told him of the plans. The Covian army though, said otherwise, and just like that Kiran was arrested. He was kept in the cells for a good day or so and questioned before being released in a far from wonderful state.

It seems the blame has been shifted onto the infamous 'Mischeif' known for her constant backstabbing of her Covians and the failed framings of those she hates. Find out next week the fate of this corrupted woman.

Letters

I was amused by the letter you published by some Yewish Militiaman in your most recent edition of the Poste concerning that cesspit known as Trinsic. Incidently do you know why the bricks of the town are yellow? It's to match the cowardly streak that runs down its ihhabitants backs!

Anyway to correct a obvious error, the darked skin toned race that once briefly hung around like whores in the slum area of the town were not Drow. They were no more Drow than Yews "Lady" Larynda D'Gar. If the writer really wants to know what true Drow are then he should come and see me sometime.

However he is right on one point. Those "drow" were there due to the connivance of of a half breed bitch called Baroness Moiraine whom the Duke had a fancy for. Both, no doubt, profited from the proceeds of the petty thuggery carried out by these heretics. Of course Von'Sah is no more....Hun'ett saw to that!

A home for the Orphans!
But what of young Buttons?

It would appear that the history filled home known as the Serf's orphanage has changed hands from the kind Sally Buttons to a young squire to the Paladins of honour, known as Kara Du'Monte. Currently, the house appears to be undergoing some renovation in preparation for opening to the public once more.

Rumours suggest that Serf's will reopen as an orphanage and a boarding house, with beds for anyone without one, though those rumours can't confirm when this will be.

It is unknown as of yet just what has or indeed will become of Miss Buttons; if you have any news of the famed cry-babies where-abouts please write in!

Vesper Bank Raided!
New group of criminals discovered!

According to early reports the main bank of Vesper was ransacked this evening. As of yet there are no leads as to who is behind such an act. Although we are informed it was a group of around seven people who took part in the robbery it would seem that no violence was involved.

Rebecca the minter confirmed that all the vaults were emptied and everything (including some art from the walls) has been taken.
We are yet to reach a Guardsman from Vesper to enquire as to whom they believe could be behind such acts, but with the lack of them around to question; I would imagine it wasn’t hard for whomever the perpetrator is to have gotten away with it.

Nobles dine whilst locals starve!
Times get even harder for the Yewians

Despite taxing a sizeable percentage of all Yewish income to line their own pockets and being in possession of all the agricultural land in Yew, House D'Gar have seen fit to finally grace the people of Yew with their presence in their time of need; by confiscating aid brought to them by Trinsic.
Apparently the fact that many peasants are struggling to make a single stale loaf of bread last to feed their families is of no consequence; House D'Gar must keep hosting wasteful feasts, even as their people near starvation.

With aid arriving in the form of flour from Trinsic, Militia Command had the flour secured and placed under guard. However, the junior ranks tasked with overseeing the protection of the flour found themselves relieved in the early hours of this morning by two men clad in the official armour and uniform of House D'Gar.

Militia Command have refused comment at this time, however news of the occurrence has spread like wildfire. Hungry and disgruntled peasants are muttering in the streets of Yew, the general consensus being that whilst disaster after disaster befalls the city, their noble leaders are still too concerned with hiding away within their estates to lend a hand and have even gone so far this time to squash what little hope had come their way.

Guardsmen take matters into their own hands!
Guardsmen use own manpower to rebuild city

After recent attacks on the healing houses of Yew, Guardsmen officials dealt with the problem by using their own buildings as refuge for the sick. With no money to rebuild the properties, both healers are out of action for the foreseeable future.

The Yewian Guardsmen however, clearly unhappy at the lack of support received by their leaders have taken matters into their own hands. Sources reveal the Yewians spent the evening working hard to rebuild the ‘Deep Forest Healers’ using their own limited materials and free time.
Maybe they do have a heart after all.

----------------------------------------------

Public Notices:

From Yew
Quote:
Due to both healers in Yew being out of action thanks to suspected arson and a substantial lack of funding received to aid in the repair of these buildings, the Guardsmen Militia have set-up a temporary medical station within the Tradepost in Stonekeep.

However, there is a limited budget available to support this relief project, so we will only be able to accept emergency patients at this time.

Bladius Dart
Captain of the Guardsmen Militia
Quote:
Due to the recent tragedy at one of our main flour mills, there is now a severe shortage of flour throughout Yew.
In order to combat this shortage we shall be enforcing a flour ration for the foreseeable future, each household is permitted access to enough flour to bake a single loaf of bread per week.
However, larger families may apply for a greater share within Stonekeep.

All luxuries such as pies, cakes, biscuits and other baked goods are strictly forbidden to be sold. Taverns and Inns must cease in their trading of these goods with immediate effect.

We encourage you to pursue other alternatives during this time.

Guardsmen Command

Rumours

Devante Stirling is at it again with his womanising, he’ll soon be competition for the Captain of Yew. This time it seems he has set his sights on the beautiful Gwen of the Trinsic Rose. Failing in attempts to make her jealous (by declaring his intention to ‘sneak into Lydia’s bedroom’) he had a friend ask her to the ball. Aww.. Unfortunately the renowned womaniser was rejected! I think he needs to work on his lines.

Seems the Wilkes’ are expecting another bundle of joy, either that or Mrs Wilkes can simply no longer fit into her uniform because of all the candy she appears to be putting away. When they say ‘eating for two’ I don’t think they mean it literally dear.

Trouble seems to be escalating in Yew, since the Mill ‘incident’ the locals have been hit by one disaster after another. Not only are they citizens struggling to make ends meet, there seems to be little in the way of support from the City’s leader. With Lord D’Gar absent and the rest of the D’Gar family seeming not to care about their people rumours of an uprising are rampant throughout the city.

A Tavern Review…

The Trinsic Rose
Not only is the building here beautiful but the staff are too. I was served by a lovely Lady named Gwen who I am told owns the Rose. She was kind and extremely generous. The building although maybe not to everyone’s taste was exquisitely decorated with all sorts of finery. Spacious yet cosy, The Trinsic Rose has something for everyone.
The locals seem to love it and it’s a thumbs up from me!
The Trinsic Rose opens every Friday from 8PM and can be found in the Elven Quarter of Trinsic.

To the Editor:

I am sorry to see that the anti-Trinsic bias of the Poste continues. Perhaps you will publish this, perhaps not; perhaps you prefer the lies and distortions of the drow Vierna.

There are two matters which I feel should be brought to the attention of the citizens of Sosaria, who, after all, have a right to know what is really happening. The first is a widely published open letter to Sineal Walker, giving the (entirely unprompted) views of the citizens of Trinsic. I feel this should be reproduced in full for the convenience of those reading and have attached a copy to this letter.

The second is the caravan of relief supplies which was successfully sent from Trinsic to the people of Minoc last week, with assistance from the Guardsmen Militia when crossing the lands of Yew. I trust that this will demonstrate that, not only does Trinsic show Compassion to all cities, following the example of our King, but also that the Militia will cooperate and support Trinsic's efforts despite the words of a few firebrands such as Mr Walker.

I hope that these may throw some light of Truth on the increasingly desperate propaganda of our enemies.

Today’s Edition is brought to you by A Reclusive Writer

Britain Moot Begins!
Tense Peace As Enemies Gather In Capitol City
Over the last few days Britain has played host to people from all corners of the world. As you can see from the sketch below, the air seems very tense and a feeling that someone could instantly snap hangs over us all. Last night a very secretive meeting was held at Lord Blackthorn’s castle and only top brass were allowed to attend, the rest of us were able to visit a bar set up at the blue boar and watch a few duels in the local battle arena.

----------------------------------------------

Rumours

The Serf House opens it's doors!

With the renovations to the house done, it would appear that the serf's house orphanage has once again reopened to the public and is offering warm meals or a bed to rest in for anyone that might need one. It is said that the Lady Kara will not turn away those in need and is prepared to offer food to whomever wishes it, all they need to do is ask, or stop by.

It also appears to be offering donations to the poor and beleaguered

The scent of fresh bread and various spices are a regular aroma to be found around the small house these days

----------------------------------------------

While it does seem like Yew has fallen on hard times, not everything appears to be doom and gloom. Rumours spread about Stonekeep that a shipment of food was left in front of the guard barracks. There appears to be no indication who left the food, save that it appears to be intended to help the food shortage.

Letters

I have written this letter and dispatched these images to the poste to show how the Loyalists break the peace at the peace talks already on the very first day. How can it be that soldiers who proclaim there loyalties to a King are unable to follow the simple laws which involves for us all to keep the peace?

As I was there I was able to see the horror these men inflicted on the innocent and young patrons of the tavern, taking out knifes, daggers and dirks stabbing out wildly whilst laughing and drinking heavily. They injured myself and a young barmaid known as Railen of the Vesperian Trading Company. And also saw fit to pull out sharp knuckle breakers to assault a Covian soldier known as Kas Valentine. As I am sat here nursing my broken nose and sense of decency, I can't help to think why people would ever do such a vile thing as attack an innocent woman. Will the Duke of Trinsic who wished to hold these peace talks do nothing to ensure the safety of the local innocent peasantry, or is it an excuse for him to further show his clear loyalties towards the Yewish hounds.

And also I am informed that our very own Captain of the Vesperian army was brutally assaulted and further more humiliated within the first two hours upon only stabling his favourite two pets. How can the leaders of the free nations sit by and watch the Yewish do as they please without taking action?

These very same men who cut off the arm of one of my own staff and gouged out an eye to satisfy there own lust for revenge, lacking the intelligence to find the real culprits! What do they do? They come and take free men of Vesper into there cells and force out false accusations believing that they are empowered to abuse and hurt innocent and elderly citizens. I spend two days myself in their cells, being beaten by the guardsmen’s own Captain, thrown down stairs, smashed into walls and tormented constantly by the Besieger division. Finally one of there own went out to find some proof, and it amazes me still that only -AFTER-they imprison the man they wish to blame for a crime, then, and -only- then, do they go looking for evidence. What amazes me more is they knew they had made a mistake arresting me as they had let me go loose two days later. However they still continue to plague me and my staff to this very day, when will it end?

They are more corrupt then the Guardian himself.

Yours in humbleness and in sincerity.

Kiran of the Swaggers Inn, Vesper.

Trinsic Edition

Poste Reorganization

Ye Sosarian Morning Poste is being reorganized. Instead of one edition every... so often.... there will now be four separate regional editions. These new edtions will be written by reporters from Trinsic, Yew, Vesper and Cove. In the future this means more Poste for you !

Outrage as Willyfist play Trinsic

Last nights Stirling & Kendall Charity Garden party was the stage as rebel band Willyfist played their first public performance in Trinsic.
Onlookers at the event aimed at raising gold for urchins were said to be in a state of "cultural shock" as lead singer Van Cocidius blasted the audience with vulgar and insulting lyrics such as "Somewun' kill that c*** with th'purple cap" and "F*** Britannia, F*** you all !!".
Despite the many complaints organisers of the event were said to be happy with the bands ability to draw in a crowd for their charity auction which raised over 300,000 gold for Buttons orphanage of Trinsic.

Company Continues Blockade

The Stirling and Kendall Company of Trinsic continues to block guards of the Duchy from using Arrow bridge. This is now the forth week of the blockade and although there has been little in the way of combat the situation remains tense. The conflict started when the Company were apparently insulted by the attitude of the Duchy towards them and in response blocked access to the bridge. As yet it appears that no agreement can be made on how to solve the crisis, the Company have not been entirely clear on what their demands are.

Honouring the Fallen Heroes!
The Baronship Pay Their Respects
In the past few weeks the Baronship of Cove hosted a day of events known as Cove Freedom Festival. This festival was hosted in honour of their fallen brothers and sisters, that have paid the ultimate sacrifice over the many years of the towns existence. The day’s proceedings began with a ceremony held in homage to the fallen and headed up by Templar Preceptor Father Siegfried. During the ceremony he took confession from those attending. Baron Octiovus, Gregor Eason and Hrothgar De Mar also gave speeches on Coves history and many victories. The days events ended with the promotion of Captain Morana to the position of Commander and a grand market that played witness to great fun and frolics!

Vespers Long Quest Finally Complete
Powerful Artefacts Destroyed
It would seem that Vesper have been very busy of late ridding the world of a vile evil! Apparently after finding a dusty old book that told tales of ancient battles and great evils, those good folks in Vesper set off on many an adventure in search of some ancient artefacts. Doing battle with many foul beasts and ancient guardians of evil the hearty group eventually followed many a clue to uncover the secrets of the past. Vesper commander Escaflowne is quoted as reporting “Travelling through the moongate into the ruined city, the militia crossed scorching lakes of lava and cut down the gargoyles and harpies that infested this place. The militia stood upon a set of steps that disappeared into the lava holding the chest up high. With one mighty hurl the chest was cast into the fiery chasms of Montor......” Well done Vesper, that’s what I say!

Rumours

Rumour has it that those S & K chaps have moved north towards the Vesper lands and have been sighted even joining in on Vesper combat trainings! The loyalists list of friends seems to be growing short indeed! Could this mean bad times ahead for loyalists everywhere? Only time will tell!

The following people seem to be wanted in Yew!

- Description - Oldish man, fairly sneaky, use's bows.

- Olchafa Serpernt - Scout o' Cove -
- Description - Short brown 'air, blue eyes, currently working around Cove can normally be seen using' an axe.

Invasion!
Dastardly forces converge on Sosarian mainland

With aggressions between Loyalist troops and the so-called 'Freedom Fighters' having petered out to the odd isolated skirmish, Sosaria herself now faces a threat beyond many wild imaginings.

Whilst the fiendish shadows and towering liches may have vanished, the individual threats to many cities remain. A meeting between world and military leaders has been scheduled to take place in the Vesper town hall this Thursday at 8 o'clock (GMT)

Shoe-stealing scumbag terrorises Trinsic
Mighty bandit resorts to thieving children's shoes

It became apparent yesterday that sinking to the depths of depravity is entirely acceptable for bandits frequenting Trinsic. Whilst Caitlyn the six year old adopted daughter of Detective Iljian is clearly far from the wealthy marks these law-evading maniacs would prefer to target, they are quite happy to take a moment out of their busy schedules to relieve sweet little girls of their footwear.
Rumours are rife as to the identity of this dangerous criminal, however current descriptions suggest that the thief is tall, well-built and blessed with dark brown hair. Good luck to the Duchy Guards with finding that one.

Jacked In!
End of the road for Yew's sadistic serial killer!

The infamous Happy Jack had been apprehended and executed in Yew it was announced on Sunday evening.
Whilst leads in the investigation had remained few and far between, an improvised trap orchestrated by the Militia finally brought Jack's reign of terror to a timely end, with Sergeant Wilkes adding the finishing touches to a gruesome career.
Many of Happy Jack's victims are yet to be identified and an unofficial Militia source suggested that the investigation is far from complete, however they refused to disclose further information on the ongoing operation. It has been suggested though that Happy Jack's list of trusted associates include none other than Kiran of the Swaggers Inn, Vesper.
Barton Davies of Empath Abbey was quoted as saying that this revelation was "Hardly the most surprising thing I've heard today."

From the Mouth of:

Duke Irvyn Middlethorn

“In all circumstances, I have never known Trinsic to respond with anything other than honour. I do not expect anything different in these times we now live in. I am proud of my city and the loyalty and honour of its citizens.”

Picture of Innocence
‘Freeman’ Kas Valentine wonder dad?
Father to an 8 month old daughter, it is a wonder that Valentine has time for anything else, but amongst the never ending tasks parenthood entails he works full time in a dangerous (and what I would call an unfulfilling) career as a Guardsmen for the Baronship of Cove.
Despite his ailing health, Valentine continues his work within the Baronship, earning himself medals as he goes.

Recognised as an arcanist by the Avatarian Church, Valentine spends most of his days healing his comrades on the battle field. The actions of a murderer? I think not.

As expected Kas Valentine was found not guilty and acquitted of murder. However in a shocking turn of events, brutish Yewians stormed the court apprehending Kas whilst Torrak remained hidden under a table.
It’s unclear yet whether Kas has escaped Yewish ‘justice’ or if this is the end for him.

Vesper and Trinsic look forward to peaceful times
Trinsican insolence overlooked in favour of harmony

According to Duke Middlethorn Vesper and Trinsic are only a few days away from an official peace treaty that will effectively bring to an end any recent tensions held between our two great cities.
Currently the agreement has been limited to that of a verbal nature but we have been assured that a written treaty is in the works and Baron Cocidius has been seen burning the midnight oil in an effort to secure the long term future of peaceful relations.
Soon the dreams of Trinsic joining the Freedom Alliance may be much closer to becoming a reality.

From the Mouth of:

Baron Van Cocidius

“People of the free country,do not fear, the dark times are coming to an end.
Van is the man with a plan.”

Rumours of Sosaria

The death of a Recruit may have had a negative impact on the Baronship’s retention of recruits. They’re opening up their doors again and trying to bring in fresh blood. Mind you – with Baron Octiovus making a few appearances lately, is it any wonder they’re not flooded with female recruits?

Lady Alisza Young hasn’t been seen a lot since her wedding day, it’s been said her husband has taken his vows a little too seriously and has chained her to the sink.

A new band of Mercenaries has been seen roaming Sosaria, so far they’ve clashed with the Yewish Militia over payment for incomplete contracts.

The streets of Trinsic really might be paved with gold, crystals have been seen appearing from the ground at random intervals – anything is possible.

Ikus Middlethorn was recently spotted leaving the Raven's Nest (which isn't a brothel!) it is believed that he was enjoying their new mud baths but purely for medicinal purposes, the half-naked ladies were merely present to ensure his treatment went to plan.

Sergeant Sakaki-Sama looks set to oust Captain Dawn from her position with tales of recent heroic deeds including "saving Trinsic" as she rapidly becomes a favourite amongst recruits and the general population.

Mrs Darling was recently spotted lending a 'helping hand' to two well-known miners in Minoc. April Darling has said in the past that she's dedicated to boosting the community spirit and doing everything she can to increase 'productivity'. Mr Darling was unavailable for comment.

Pirates are renowned for unusual behaviour, but there is one friendly faced, local pirate that beats the lot. Known to many for his starring role in 'Willyfist', it seems badboy Van has taken up a new pastime; cross-dressing.

Reviews!

The Raven’s Nest

Location: North of Trinsic – Towards the Swamps.

Type of Establishment: Tavern

Review: The Raven’s nest is certainly not for the faint of heart. From the bold colour scheme to the action that takes place ‘behind the scenes’ it's a place to enjoy. The owner Elizabeth Fortes Llyonadhadd (married to Sean Llyonadhadd) spoke briefly with me about her plans for the place.
Whilst business is quiet currently, she hopes once it picks up she will be able to open up a massage parlour and beauty salon somewhere within the premises. With it currently offering a hot-tub, mud bath and a variety of different size beds and rooms- will this be the grandest tavern of them all?

The Raven’s nest is open every day with an ‘open house’ policy in place on Thursday evenings.
They allow all creatures and all loyalties; as long as they accept the rules.

Rating: 4/5
