| ![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today's Edition is brought to you by Claw ... Hooded Claw. A Letter from ...? Gentle readers, One must be ever vigilant in these uncertain days of change and the stress that oft accompanies it. Many of these changes, such as the begining of the people to ask for their right of governance from their hereditary landlords, successful for only what their ancestors stole for them, are for the better. As the people's sovreignty grows and the voices of the many heard, we can shift away from the old aristoracy and forge a destiny like free men. In the name of all this though, many serpents lay in the garden. A man is easily swayed, when his stomach is more empty than his pokcets. A vote is a powerful thing, and shouldnt be for sale. Sadly it still seems that those with the means for spend on their voting base will always prove more often the victor when people's honor is tarnished. Vigilance, too, must be taken to the methods of the vote's tally. Why was one forced to voice their choice, as opposed to a ballot, observed by a neutral arbiter, cove for example, or some pannel of men of justice? While a vote may be powerful, it is rendered useless, and more likely, dangerous, when it is not allowed the safety off annonymity, and the power structure in place is the observer of every vote, for and against it. Do not fall back asleep now that your stomachs are full. A democracy is only as good as its keepers. Do not be swayed by fear, and be wary of those who too often tout patriotism- that last refuge of scoundrels. Almost all major risks to any state are economic. Look to those who stand to gain for any major policy shift and ask the tough questions. Demand accountability. For those still under the sway of the crown, Organize. ~ Waiting for the Philosopher King. =========== Hard day at the office? Newly-elected Baron Kidnapped... ...and swiftly rescued by his Militia. Word from the north is that barstaff and patrons were dragged out of the Swaggers Inn, pinned against the wall and interrogated about the Baron's last movements - saying that he'd been kidnapped shortly after leaving the establishment! According to our sources the kidnappers came back to Vesper with a ransom note, and the Vesparians used a cunning ploy to lull the kidnappers into a false sense of security before striking them down and saving their newly elected Baron! On a more disturbing note, rumours say that under interrogation afterwards the kidnappers claimed to have been employed by wealthy Trinsicians! Has Trinsic instantly blown its chance to make amends with the Republic of Vesper? Will Baron Samsca go eye for an eye with the nobility of Trinsic? More when we hear it. ========== Vesparians infiltrate Trinsic... ...But withdraw shortly afterwards Thats right, once again the Vesparians launched an attack on Trinsic, although this time they were deployed in a far different manner to their usual and well known raiding tactics. The Vesparians did their best to avoid Trinsic's defences and blocked off Paladin Isle - only recently known as a hotspot of the Blackrock Invasion some time ago, and as where Royal Commander Jordan Jurrel fell against the dark elementals. Our sources say the casualties for Trinsicians trying to stop the Vesparians were quite heavy, and inspection of the battle site revealed just a single Vesparian body on the ground compared to the swathes of defenders who had been lost. Your reporter dare say this was a far more calculated strike than the Vesparians normally commit to - perhaps to do with their recent change in leadership. This all begs the question of what were the Vesparians so interested in on Paladin Isle. Naturally, the word blackrock was heard being shouted by the Vesparians according to eyewitnesses. Why would Vesper be interested in something so inherently dangerous, especially after having always dismissed blackrock as a fake threat! More when it comes, dear reader. ==== A Small Pointy Letter Ther' be a outragous rumor 'bout Gnomy goin' on in Vesper after the Election, Gnomy jus' wan'a clarify tha' tis' ain' even close to be true! .. If yer hear tis' laugh at it.. as Gnomy 'nd Gnomys friends laugh at it.. Yer will find it very amusin' Gnomy promise. Tis' rumor started because of jealousy Gnomy think.. Never knuw... Women! *Signed Gnomy* -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks to Hanse and Lyim and Gnomey! More News to squeeze in Tomorrow's Edition which features partial nudity, the undead and Captain Kaelyn! And not necessarily in that order! | ![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today's Edition is a Special Early Edition brought to you by Keina Redwing! A Day in the Life of an Undead Captain A School Report, By Keina Redwing. Aged 8 (nearly 9!) ![]() For my research project I have chosen to study Miss. Kaelyn, Trinsic’s Captain of the Guards. She has been captain for one year now after the mysterious (aka treasonous!) disappearance of Mr. Raven, the former captain. First Some Background Information: Where does “Undead” come into it you might ask? Well that is a long story; no actually it’s pretty short. Some undead fiends kidnapped and tortured the captain to death, but before anyone managed to bury her… she came back to LIFE! I swear on my soul that this is true and I’m not making it up! She came back to life even prettier and unscathed than when she departed her pained existence. I saw with my own two eyes, the captain who I consider a friend (even if she does turn out to be an undead) very much dead on one of the beds in the Trinsic healers, her body was burnt and bloody, I did not get an in-depth assessment before I was ushered out of the building (and nor did I want to) but I could tell for sure that she was dead, and many people at the time said it – even the Duke of Trinsic! And if anyone would know, he would. Everyone was very sad… But! The next day, I walked into the city, after just buying some flowers to place upon her grave-to-be actually, and who do I see?! Kaelyn! Quite alive (supposedly…) and well, even smiling and chatting to people that seemed to just accept guards coming back to life like it was an everyday occurrence! I challenged this, but everyone seemed to have gone mad, or perhaps I was the mad one for not believing people could just come back to life… It has been two weeks since the captain’s rise from the dead and so far (as much to my knowledge) she hasn’t gone into a blood frenzy, howled at the moon or tried to eat anyone’s brains. But time will tell… For my project I decided to interview Captain Kaelyn first hand to find out the details I needed, and I decided to follow her around a bit to get a first hand feel for what she does in a day. I also asked some Trinsicians their opinions of the captain and made some sketches to make my report look pretty. My Interview With Captain Kaelyn: Captain Kaelyn kindly agreed to an interview and we went to The Rose (a tavern just outside the City of Trinsic) for it. I asked her some questions about her life as a guard and as a captain; I found out that she is now 22 years old and has been in the guard force for 4 years and a captain for about 1 year. She became a guard because she did not want to get married to a miller and so ran away to become a mercenary protecting caravans, but as she was not skilled enough with a sword they laughed and turned her away. She told me that the Duke of Trinsic gave her a chance and took her on as a recruit in his guard force. She went on to tell me that she likes the pay she receives as a captain, and I found out that she gets about sixteen hundred coins a month for her work and that she officially works about 10 hours a day but frequently works more, and at the mention of overtime she laughed! “Sometimes ah think ah shoul' jus' arrest all ter have peace” she said to me at one point. On asking her more about her promotion to captain, I found out that she is only captain until the Duke finds someone better. “well his Grace asked me ter accept it until some other Captain coul' be foun'” she told me, although I think perhaps the Duke is just stalling as he wants to keep Kaelyn in her position. “So ...why the sudden diversion to the Virtues?” I asked her, slipping the question in quite unsubtly to steer the conversation, I might add. Her reply was: “Because ah was given a secon' chance an' was advised ter follow the virtues better… Ah was tol' ah got a new body all healed, ah nay even have the scars ah had before an' feel” I then went on to ask her about her hobbies outside of her job; she told me she likes to eat cookies and that she is undecided on whether she will marry her long-term man-friend Tiggarn and that she hopes to have babies one day! I asked her if she had anything to add that she wanted to put in my project: “ah hope yer get good marks on it an' ter behave ter make a guards life easier” As I turned to leave after saying my farewells and my thanks, a man turned from the bar and addressed the captain with … “Kaelyn. Thought you were dead?” – a very fitting ending I thought. Some (Anonymous!) Quotes From The People of Trinsic: “Hrm... Can be a bit annoying. Thinks she knows all about love…or other peoples love…thinks she knows all about other peoples love.” “Kaelyn is one of the best captains we ever had” “After her recent death, which brought the opportunity of a new Trinsic with it, a new Trinsic in the sense of it being able to become strong and independent, under the guidance of an able, confident new Captain; she somehow resurrected herself. It was bad enough that Undead creatures swarmed the forests, but now that they are taking over the Duchy themselves, what are we to do? I feel we are part of an evil plot that we do not fully grasp yet. Only time will tell.” “She's a nice ah enough lass. And a good guard.” “She has nice hair.” “She is undead filth and is not fit to do the job she has! She should have been destroyed the moment she returned to town! Instead she has a second chance to exact her revenge on Trinsic! She is vindictive, spiteful and holds back any person who shows signs of promise!” “I have only recently arrived to Trinsic, from what I have seen of the captain, she is polite, courteous and patient even in the face of the heavy weight bearing down on the Province.” The Captain’s Day: I followed Captain Kaelyn around for a while as much as I could without getting in the way, I saw her arrest somebody and I saw her politely direct new-comers to the city to where they needed to be. ![]() (The usual warning doesn’t work as always, but patience is a virtue after all) ![]() (Kaelyn isn’t one to let the past stay in the past when it comes to dangerous criminals…) Captain Kaelyn’s days are vastly different from each other, some days they are quiet and some days they are very busy with just one thing after the other. But she does not just act on criminals and the likes; she also deals with the guards pay and trade licenses and things like that. My Conclusion: I have come to a few conclusions throughout my report and I shall list them below: 1) I don’t want to be a captain when I grow up, it looks and sounds like more hassle than its worth, even if it does pay a lot! 2) Perhaps Kaelyn isn’t an evil, bloodsucking, brain-eating, soulless Undead intent on secretly turning the whole of Trinsic into vampires, warewolves or zombies but I still have my suspicions 3) I still think the Duke, her and Cal Soulshadow (who I were informed by a very …reliable… source have all gone through similar to Kaelyn!) have a secret cult, but what that cult’s goal is I do not know! 4) A captain’s job is a very demanding one and very important. ![]() (A captain must be able to multitask well and calm the masses with ease) -The End- | ||||||||

| ![]() Special Boxing Edition! ![]() Boxing Introduction Held by: John Dell and Qom Riyadh Attended: Dragoon Sergeant Hoagie Grenadier Corporal Raiden Morana Senior Guardsman Tiberius Kane Watchman Faden Wildheart Watchman Celuvian Guardsman Recruit Synara Kahn (Left around the middle) Guardsman Recruit Jakob D'Stoke Guardsman Recruit Zoie Hayden ________________________________________ With this introductory report we hope to tease the urge to try boxing out, and to show what we talked about in our first meeting! Our introduction seminar was located in Cove's Academy of Fighting Excellence and as we arrived to the newly set up class room like facility everyone sat down and the lecture could begin. To help those that did not focus on the lecture and to those that chose not to show up we will present what areas we went through and a small recap about them. What was being brought up: • WHAT boxing really is. • The two different boxing styles: Brawler and out-fighter. • Rock-Paper-Scissors. • Boxing outfit. • 90 Second Rounds. • The Homework. ![]() ![]() What is boxing? Boxing is more than going to a tavern, drinking yourself instable, and then trying to know out each others teeth on the muddy streets. Boxing has rules, honour, and finesse. It's a sport, not a brutal bunch of men longing for violence. Boxing is about being a winner! Training hard and becoming a champion! Boxing is how we can gain glory! Boxing Styles. The Slugger, also referred to as the Brawler, or Puncher, is the fighting style fitting the slow and brutish. The Slugger is noted for his raw power and lack of finesse. Due to the slugger's dangerous single-punch power, the slugger has a high knock-out rate. They often lack mobility and have a difficulty pursuing opponents that are fast on their feet. They tend to prefer hard, slower punches like the uppercut and hook and tend to ignore punching combination - which leaves them open for counter-punches. The Out-Fighter could be explained easily as the opposite of the slugger, although this is not entirely true. The out-fighter is someone who likes to keep a distance between himself and the opponent. Working with swift feet, keeping the opponent at bay with faster and longer punches like the jab. And because they rely on the weaker punches, like the jab, out-fighters often wins by points rather by knock-outs. They like to control the fight by using long jabs to keep the opponent away, using good and fast footwork to dodge and evade the opponent if he closes in. Some say that they are the best strategists because of their ability to control the pace of the fight, tearing the opponent down and tiring him. An out-fighter shows more finesse than a Slugger. Swarmer. Mentioned but not explained. Rock-Paper-Scissors The different boxing types work as the well known child game rock-paper-scissors. Each boxing type has a weakness which another has as strong point. This might best be explained as follows: Out-Fighter > Brawler Brawler > Swarmer Swarmer > Out-Fighter The out-fighter that wants to keep a distance has an advantage to the slow brawler who hits slow but hard. Those with a brain might be able to figure out what the swarmer, also called in-fighter, has as strong point and weak point. Boxing Outfit ![]() The boxing outfit is to consist solely on a pair of sandals, short pants, and boxing gloves. Women will be allowed to wear a shirt. Rounds & Time A boxing match will consist of three rounds. Each round being 90 seconds with a 30 seconds pause between each round. After the three rounds have passed and neither of the contestants have been knocked out, the judges rule a winner and the match is over. The match can however be a lot longer than 3 rounds if the judges doesn't agree, and will then go on until a knock out has taken place. Epic rounds are well known for title matches and tournament finals. Homework! The Covians that participated were given a home work. If you are interested in coming to the next session feel free to do it! It is important as the next meeting will be based upon what you have gathered. You were asked to gather as much information on yourself as possible; what you are good at and your weak points. Are you tall and muscular or are you small and agile, or perhaps small but strong with a lot of stamina? We ask that you gather as much information about yourself to present for next time. ________________________________________ Are you interested in the Covian Boxing League and would like to know more, or are you interested in coming to our next session, eventually signing up for the League? ![]() Late News! Letters Sent to Ye Poste! In reference to your letter from ...? It is a sad day when folk must resort to a cowards anonymity to launch attacks upon the only truely democratic nation. The author is clearly either blind or simply deluded. Let us look at his claims. It is certainly reasonable that votes should not be for sale. To act however as if it should not be those from the pool of means whom the public should vote for is clearly dangerous. If a person is incapable of acquiring properties, titles and or other positions which can grant such rewards (in exchange for grave responsibilities) then what experience would they have in the highest office? It seems reasonable to me that those who are from this pool of means should continue to act as is natural and that may or may not involve the distribution of gifts. I would disagree with his view, which contaminates his entire letter, that the public are stupid and docile animals unaware of their situation. The Vesperian public is more than capable of determining their own fate and not easilly led by some phantom carrot on a stick. Secondly this dangerous view that folk should tell their vote in secret. What would secrets in this case breed but fear and mistrust? Why does the speaker presume that we in Vesper are of the barbaric stance where we cannot tolerate those with differing views to ourselves? It would be a sad day when folk could not proudly state their support for a candidate clearly and loudly to all who surround. All granting a secret ballot to a 'neutral' observer would accomplish would be to place great power upon this observer. If, as the author claims, the public can be bribed surely it is easier to bribe a single neutral force? Such would be the end of democracy as we know it. Third he besmirks those who proudly state their love and support for our fair republic with this title of a scoundrel. In that case I must surely be a scoundrel myself. A person who does not think first and foremost of Vesper's interests is hardly fit to weild the powers contained within the mantle of the highest office. Why do these cowards see fit to mock our democracy from the shadows. If they truely wish to state complaints then let them come forward and level them as valiant folk. The illustrious Samsca of Olk. By the Grace of Greenie, Baron of all the Vespers, Mayor of West Vesper, Governor of Vespenland, Manager of the Vesperian Company for the acquisition of Ore, Defender of Freedom and so forth and so forth and so forth. *a poster on the walls in Trinsic* NEW TRADE MINISTER OF TRINSIC The new Trade Minister of Trinsic is now Lady Kimi. She will as from now on handle the trade licenses and building leases and other trading matters. Captain Kaelyn Last edited by Ye Morning Poste; 22-05-07 at 10:39 AM. | ||||||||

| ![]() Special Trinsic Edition! Brought to you by the World Weary Hooded Claw - sleepless for seven nights straight! Kaldorians Reclaim Stolen Ale Henry Winter’s brigands got a taste of their own medicine last night after their ale caravan was raided by angry Kaldorians. The Kaldorians, who lost their ale supply when their tavern was blown up last month, believed that the brigands were behind the explosion, and the ale they were transporting was, in fact, stolen from Strongholt. Although the brigands initially managed to fight off their attackers, the Kaldorians were undeterred and followed them to their new home in Magincia. A series of skirmishes resulted in bloody defeat for the brigands and the return of the Kaldorian ale to Strongholt. No doubt General Paladis will be relieved. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today’s Edition is brought to you by the Hooded Claw. Bringing you news from the gutter as it happens! Spate of Deaths in Vesper Trio of murders sweep Northern headlines! Tragedy has recently struck the ever-dangerous Republic as a spate or murders and man-hunting have gripped much of the Vesparians attention in recent days. We managed to rope in one of the Vesparians who claimed to have been there for his story on it: "Aye, there've been three murders all ta'gether. First was a Dragoni temple-girl - bless 'er cotton socks - who after we'd thrown just 'bout everyone against the wall and questioned 'em turned out to have been killed by that Van Cocidus man - bless 'is cotton socks. We roped the killer in an' turned him over to the Dragoni for punishment, y'know, since he killed one of their people in their temple like. Militia leaves it at tha' an' we return later to find tha' Cocidus man - bless 'im - dead in a pool o' his own blood with his ears cut off, an' another Dragoni girl - bless her - who w'there Magistrate dead in an open cell. Pretty grizzly ah gotta say. Asked whether or not the Militia was looking into who had been there for the last two murders, the man simply said "We're looking into it", which said by any guardsman anywhere generally means they're not. More when - or if - we hear about it! --- Professional Disagreement, or Hidden Power Struggle? Baron Samsca and Captain Davion seen locking horns! Eyewitnesses have said that a few days ago they saw two of the - if not the - most influential men in Vesper not only arguing, but firing shots at eachother in the street and plying the Militia to try have eachother arrested! Word is that the hostility has died down, and both men have held onto their freedom. But why would two men, usually known for being on the same page as one another , be at eachothers throats now? Have the recent events in Vesper prompted both to try and tarnish the other to avoid taking the blame? Or is there a greater meaning behind their arguments? --- Resurgent Orcs rattle Vesparians Republicans not at all pleased! Reports are pouring out of the north that a band of Orcs have begun breeding somewhere in the forests around Vesper - and that their presence has been felt with the occasional Orcish incursion into Vesper itself! In just a few days there have been several raids on Vesper, an attempted kidnapping of a young Militiaman and - disheartening for some, pleasing for others - the death of one of the more notorious Militiamen, Rand Darkmoore, at their hands. Rare are the times the Vesparians have backed down from a fight, but given their current situation is this another straw being put on the camels back? Battle Royal from Trinsic! The market square had been prepared for the tournament and the participants were asked to stand in the ring to present themselves. Eight fighters felt brave enough to try their abilities for the prize sum of 100.000 gold *a sketch shows most of the fighters preparing* ![]() The rules were to be pretty simple, all fighters would fight in the ring and nay teamwork was allowed. There would be three rounds and the one that fell in the first two rounds as first would not be able to fight in the final round. In the first round Devante fell first and two mages fought it out between themselves. In the second round Tammy was the unlucky one that fell first and from her cursing seemed very unhappy about it, cursing mages and their magik. In the final round most fighters had noticed the dangers from the magik users and them tried to eliminate them first and in the end a Magincian swordsman called Garrick Adraldor was victorious. *the sketch below shows the winner* ![]() He got the prize money of 100.000 gold coins and it seems that the fighting tournament will be held in more towns, so keep an eye out for another chance to prove how well you fight. More News on Those Murders in Vesper. Apparently Van Coicidius from the Vesper Trading Company was horrifically murdered a few nights ago. He was found dead in the Vesperian cells, although Vesperians have denied any involvement. Liberator Rand Darkmoore of Vesper was savagely killed last night. His ears, tongue, eyes, and even a leg was removed from his person. He was dumped by a gang of orcs in front of the Swaggers Inn. Tonight!!! ![]() Also Hot in From the Kings Deer! The King's Deer Tavern had a ''Drunken Joust'' yesterday eve - Monday 1st Place Drew (-V-) 2nd Place Gotrek Crossarms (Grd) (Navy Blue) Drew has been titled: Navy Blue Drew The Drunken Jouster of Yew Cooking Contest on Wednesday at 20:30 at Trinsic west gate Apologies for missing this - the Hooded Claw has only just returned from illness. Letters to the Editor Dear Sir/Madam, Because of the pressure of work, many hard-working crafters are unable to attend the events being held in Trinsic, Vesper, Stonekeep and elsewhere, but would like to at least be able to read about them by those who are able to attend. Even just a short notice of who won the latest tavern competition, a brief battle report, a boat-race or horse-race, or the tale of a quest would make a difference to enliven our days of drudgery, slaving over a hot forge. I am, Yours faithfully, Jern Fretting Blacksmith, Freeman of the Duchy of Trinsic Farrier Services offered The cost of farrier services offered by stables is sometimes extortionately high, while the workmanship can be shoddy. So as a fully qualified blacksmith I have been turning my hand to the related craft of the farrier. I can offer services to shoe horses and other hooved mounts, replace dropped shoes, or to trim and maintain the hooves of unshod mounts. These services will be free if required at The Trinsic Rose Free Repair Hour 7-8 pm Wednesdays. Other times by fee and appointment. Jern Fretting, Blacksmith and Farrier Freeman of the Duchy of Trinsic Another Letter How hilarious should one that used gold to gain office speak of freedom! Indeed, his only priorities are those that deal with the clink clinking within his pockets, the recent election I tell you was rigged! How? It is widely known that several 'unknown Vesperians' voted at the elections and that there is a crowd within the town who's values can be bought with but a few silver! I find it amusing to some degree that this 'Baron' or rather 'Braggart' would send decent law abiding citizens out of Vesper and allow a pirate filled cesspool to remain in the town! For what reason I may ask? Oh, yes I forgot... GOLD! It will be a fine day when the real Baron Kain Twothumb turns around and kicks this double dealing traitor out of office and into his box! Freedom? The only freedom Vesper will have is when your head is removed from your body! - Sgt Landrell Frostwalker ************************************************** *** ooc bigup thanks to all those who sent stuff in and apologies for anything that was missed | ||||||||

| ![]() By the sunburnt and drunk Hooded Claw - Old News - better late than never! Upcoming Event! ![]() The Guardsmen Militia will be launching a two-day expedition into Felucca. This expedition will be based in Yew and will involve us patrolling the area, handing out copies of the Kings Law, and delivering Justice to the Murderers who dwell within. We actively want to engage with Felucca players and look forward to interacting (and roxxoring) with you all. I will post more details this weekend. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WARRANT for arrest Name: Shunsaki Gender: Male Race: Human Skin: tanned Hair: Long and greyish white, no beard Last seen wearing: Black Tokuno style clothes Description: Quite tall, talks often in tokunese Accused of: Helping to kidnap Meygan when a group of black dressed and hooded figures stormed into town Assault on various guards and citizens, Being a member of a group attacking Trinsic Weapon: Krysses and daggers mostly coated with an unknown poisonous substance Description of what happened: A group of black dressed and hooded figures stormed into town, starting to attack people and kidnapping and torturing Meygan. Many guards and citizens were hurt in this attack and had to be treated at the healers. Name: Carn Helmingas Gender: Male Race: Human Skin: Light Hair: Long dark, almost black Last seen wearing: Black magician hat and black robes, Description: Quite tall with dark looking eyes and can often be seen with two wolves Accused of: Attacking Captain Kaelyn and other citizens of Trinsic among them were Tammy, was put on stocks but escaped during an Orc attack Weapon: magik Description of what happened: Carn attacked me at the gate and threw a curse at me, also got reports that he and some others attacked citizens, also fled from the stocks and his punishment Suggested punishment: He is to be considered insane and dangerous and should either be handed over to Callum or Muldran or killed and burnt if there is nay help for him. Kaelyn -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Citizens of the south, Dr. Lyim Rashidat has re-opened his business in the southern city of Trinsic as a master Surgeon, Apothecary, and Physician. He is fully licensed to aid those in need of health services and major health needs. House calls available upon request. He will be sharing the Healers building with local Iljian, though the two are not in business together as of this point. In addition, Dr. Rashidat is also fully versed in the laws of Trinsic and, should the need arise for legal council or representation, Dr. Rashidat is available for services in these regards. Finally, Dr. Rashidat has vast experience in the field of international relations, commerce, and diplomatic discourse. Should any party wish to conduct such activities with a neutral arbiter, Dr. Rashidat is the man to approach. All of Dr. Rashidat's services are extended to anyone of the realms who wishes them. Dr. Rashidat discriminates not again race, creed, or religion. From the offices of Dr. Lyim Rashidat, esq. Dagger Isle, Trinsic. Also at his northern office at the Swaggers Inn, Vesper. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kaldorian Gorn Sagern married Calantha of the Swaggers Inn Recently a wedding was held in the Temple of Dondinia in Strongholt. The blushing bride looked lovely in yellow and was given away by Van Cocidius. Best man was former husband of the Commander Sergeant Mordred of Kaldor. Commander Cal Soulshadow, who is also ordained as a priest of Raza, performed the ceremony, but seemed to look uncomfortable in the temple of Dondinia. It is rtumoured that all is not well in the Kaldorian Pantheon with rivalry between Raza [God of War] and Dondinia [Goddess of Nature and Life]. It seems odd that Foxy, well-known cleric of Dondidina passed the job over to the Commander. The reception was held at the Swaggers Inn Vesper where a good time was had by all and this reporter wonders if this will trigger any more wedding ceremonies in the Kaldorian ranks? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Letters The Duchy of Trinsic looks for a scholar or known person that can seal up magik in a person, hindering that person to further use magik. The person I want this done upon is Carn a mad magician who has proved to be dangerous and refuses to change his ways. Please contact Captain Kaelyn and the one that manages to seal up Carn’s magik will get a fee of 1000 gold Due to attacks in town any person entering and in town might be searched by the Duchy guards and their allies. Any person who has a weapon with unknown or dangerous substances on it has to hand it over and the weapon will be kept by the Duchy. Any person who has a black suit and a black hood/mempo is to be arrested and to be questioned about their business in town. Also any attackers caught in town are to be kept one night in a cell before being put on stocks. Kaelyn Captain of the Duchy Guards -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In response to Llandrell Frostwalker, Many arrived to vote, and most if not all of these people were turned away from voting - including some who had gotten false papers "proving" their citizenship from one of the candidates. While you may also have seen many "unknown Vesparians" in the election queues, you can rest assured that if they were not well known citizens of Vesper, they were asked to prove whether or not they were citizens at all. It should also be noted that in just about every case of these unknowns, they attempted to vote for the Royalist Candidate Ikus Middlethorn. He is the man you should be questioning about his election practices. Because you were not asked, which I imagine was the case, was only proof that we take note of who lives in our town such as yourself and other Dragoni. On a side note, the former Lord Kain Twothumb, still heavily involved with a variety of businesses in Vesper obviously has no intention of contesting the election result, or he would have in the time since. He respects that the elections were true and fair, and has congradulated his successor on numerous occasions for becoming the new voice of freedom, the new representative of hope and liberation for both the free people of Vesper, and those living under tyranny in other towns. Signed, Captain Hanse Davion -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- News FLASH! ![]() Apologies this got lost in the press room! And is a week late! Thanks to all who contributed - Kaelyn, Dawson Black, GRD, Lyim Radish-hat, Cal Soulshadow and Hanse Davion | ||||||||

| ![]() Special Edition brought to you by Mechanical Owl from Felucca Report on the Guardsmen Militia Taking Justice to Felucca I rested my weary, frozen body by the burner which had been created by Sithra one of the last of felucca’s gypsy claynswomen and stared towards the Sea of Naeloth. So Klion D’Gar wanted to rid the Old Lands of the cut-throats, brigands and murderers. This would be worth recording and I would be able to sell the tale to Klion perhaps and maybe pick up some genuine noble blood at the same time… I packed my pens and papers and tucked them safely into a bag and strapped it under my shroud and made my way to Stonekeep in Trammel. ![]() Whoever it was who was sat astride the horse was clearly a blood relative of Klion, having similar arrogant, brash and yet charismatic leadership qualities. He damned my grandfather’s ghostly horse calling it a “daemon” horse and so to comply with Yewish Law I despatched it back to the Land of the Dead. These Yewish Folk seem a little mistrustful of the arcane ways and I suspected they thought me a wytch. The Yewish commander addressed his men and explained the course of action to be taken – to cleanse the lands around Yew felucca and to make good the outpost and secure it from attack. One guardsman was given a mule to guard – it being heavily laden with provisions. We made our way to the moongate where the commander handed out books containing the names of those who were wanted for crimes against Sosaria. ![]() Moving swiftly into felucca and being unarmed and unarmoured I did hope this would at least deter the bandits from attacking me, of course they weren’t to realise I carry no gold or goods of value. The Militia left the safety of the moongate and made their way out and addressed the assembled crowd. The commander gave a brief statement declaring all outlaws under arrest and gave them fair warning that their crimes would not continue to go unpunished. This seemed to inflame the gathering crowd who became unruly and the next thing I knew some scoundrel had ridden me down into the mud and broken my favourite pencil! ![]() At this point all hell broke loose and it was chaos. The Guardsmen fought with savage pride and their leader held great sway over his men. Sometimes the bandits got close enough to knock down the guardsmen – but the brave men of Yew gave as good as they got. ![]() The speed of combat here was breathtaking and there were many from the good guilds of Sosaria who did nobly aid the guardsmen in their cleansing of the soil. ![]() There was one gentleman who seemed intent on kicking me to the ground every time I took out my pencils to draw a sketch and so I did finally catch up with him and present a picture here of this gentleman who perhaps the Guardsmen can now lock up and detain at their leisure. ![]() By now I was hopelessly separated from my protectors and was at the mercy of the locals. The guardsmen had detained and killed quite a fair few of the brigands but there were still many in the area swarming around like angry bees. Many times I found myself under horse, on fire, poisoned, with an axe about to behead me and many times it was sheer luck that I did not die. ![]() The slaughter continued ![]() Finally I looked up and saw from the dirt the malevolent face of an elf leering down at me and the last thing I recall is his fist smashing into my face as I slipped into oblivion… ![]() ----------------------------------------------------- Part Two hopefully tomorrow! Come along and join the fun! Last edited by Ye Morning Poste; 27-06-07 at 09:54 AM. | ||||||||

| ![]() The Scara Brae Itinerant Market On 30 June at 2pm this was held outside Trinsic Westgate, and was great fun. Some fine armour made by Lord Paidric, and also by Lord Ulysses Gauvain was selling fish and also some brilliant amber. Never seen it before, comes from the sap of pine trees (you see these in Yew) but at 5,000 ducats each was beyond my purse. But I swapped him for a fire ruby I had mined the day before, a real bargain! There was also another armourer and also a lady who put on dog fights for punters to bet on (my dog won!). Great entertainment, though a bit bloody. Lots to see and do, folk to chat to. Many new faces, and also some familiar ones, like Stewan Seagull and the Trinsic Guard Brynhild. The long row of pack horses and llamas and fire beetle was impressive, too. Jern Fretting Silverleaf Village crafter Whacking Day! However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today’s Poste is brought to you by Serendipity Jones War of the Boots! Harmless insult leads to tragedy, sparking conflict between Kaldor and Cove War came to sleepy Cove on Thursday night after a tavern night ended in bloody violence. A combined Vesperian and Kaldorian force descended upon Cove to avenge the arrest and torture of Rebecca, a barmaid at the Swaggers Inn, and Calantha, a former Swaggers barmaid now married to Kaldorian Maul Knight, Gorn. Kaldor and Cove had been reasonably friendly until this point, and there had even been rumours of an alliance, but these were swiftly put to rest as the furious Kaldorians and Vesperians attacked the Covian forces and set fire to their church. ![]() The reason for the war stems from the opening of the new Goblin tavern in Cove on Wednesday night. The evening started peacefully enough, but things turned nasty when Calantha made fun of Baron Octiovus' boots. The outraged baron ordered her arrested, but husband Gorn, knowing that she was in the early stages of pregnancy, tried to protect her. The Kaldorians, as well as Swaggers barmaid Rebecca, ended up in the cells, where they were tortured interrogated by Covian Templar Hugo. Despite being informed that she was with child, the cowardly templar tortured Calantha so badly that she miscarried, thus earning the wrath of both Kaldor and her former colleagues at the Vesper Trading Company. The battle resulted in heavy injuries to both sides, but the Kaldor-Vesper alliance were ultimately victorious, and lost no opportunity to fire Hugo's church and plunder Cove's treasury. Two Covians were taken prisoner: Mela, wife of former Commander Erik Arkay, and Dimman, a former Kaldorian soldier who had recently turned coat. Mela was later released unharmed. Dimman is still presumed to be in Kaldorian custody. ----------------------------- Serendipity’s Snippets Strange elven child Zefar is offering a pet training school for anyone who wants their prized animal toughened up or brought to heel. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Today’s Poste is brought to you by The Hooded Claw and Fanglings A Letter to Start us Off Dear Staff at the Morning Poste, I couldn't help to notice, that you wrote that it was Cala that made fun of the Barons boots. That's a little error, since it was me that did that. But seriously - Men in tight boots. Ain't that just a wee bit man-loving? *Signed* Rebecca of the Swaggers Inn. editor's note - seems daft to us to give your name as the insulter in this case - one wonders what the Covians will make of this? Update on the Captured Dimman Sources tell us that Dimman had spent some time in Strongholt Prison, and having survived the hospitality of Captain Duo was ready for his final journey. Kaldorians inform us that he was “Once a good Maul Knight”, who had “inexplicably deserted and joined forces with those bastards in Cove”. Apparently three times he was given the chance to repent and return to the Army of Kaldor; three times he refused. The only recourse left to the Kaldorians in their own words was “to execute the traitor”. After being given his last rites by Foxy, and an ale, as his last request, he was taken upstairs to the guillotine. Commander Cal Soulshadow seemed a little dubious of this newfangled device; asking “what is wrong with an old fashioned firing squad, or even an axe”, but was assured it was a quick and clean way to end a life. An initial test worked, but a second test was performed once Dimman was upon the scaffold, and as sod's law had it, the blade jammed. A footsoldier was sent to fetch oil, while Dimman shivered on the platform. ![]() Once the blade was oiled and ready, Dimman was asked for his last words. ![]() As he kneed beneath the great blade, a great many footsteps sounded on the stone steps of the prison. Covians! Dimman was hastily bundled into Duo's office, while the Kaldorians grouped at the top of the stairs. The battle was fierce, but the Covians were too many for the Kaldorians to handle this time. So it would seem Dimman would live to see another day. Editor’s note – we are trying to hear from anyone from Cove who has the time to give their side of events. As an impartial newspaper we would love to hear anything from Cove. Whilst looking for a Covian to ask we did find this: ![]() And also this seeming decree: Greetings faithful Covians. It has come to my attention that many within our fair town have been harbouring heresy within their souls. The act known as 'magery' shall henceforth be illegal unless all persons practicing it doth register themselves as magelings. Any found to be violating this accord will be dealt with swiftly. In addition, the mages of the army shall now be organized into a new unit which shall specialise in the research of arcane matters. Know thy enemy. Signed neatly: Ingram Bloodrock, Minister of magic. | ||||||||

| ![]() [The news as contained in this post you can take as IC knowledge. However any posts it links to are purely OOC information, unless you happen to have a good explanation why you would know about them IC.] Todays Edition is brought to you by Peggy Frangles! Caden’s At It Again… Yes! The man was to be the one oogling the MOST at all the young ladies the other day that passed through Stonekeep. He had a visit from some Covians last week, too. They were returning a ‘Golden Gorget’, that belonged to one of their beloved soldiers a long, long time ago. Swaggers Inn Holds Lunatics! Ladies laugh at Hats The Militia of Vesper and their Baron have recently brought in a new rule. This rule is that all women MUST wear hats on Sundays. Vesper barmaids and a few various others were caught holding a protest against this new rule. Their definition of ‘protesting’ consisted of stripping to the bare minimum and burning several said hats. All the women were fined 3000 doubloons. Strip Sleaze Vesper barmaids travel to Yew for a stripping session in attempts to raise gold for themselves and the Inn. Names such as Rebecca and Dalla rose in conversation when the topic was discussed. They have been said to have given one of the Yew Militia a lap dance as a grand finale, too! Back from the dead? The well-known criminal, Kiran, who also resided at the Swaggers Inn, was sentenced to death last week. They held an exceedingly long trial, followed shortly by Kiran being blasted into tiny pieces in front of a fair amount of people. One of the barmaids was spied feeding chunks of the Bar Manager to her pet bear. Here is where it all gets a bit fishy: Only a day or two after this event, Kiran showed up back at the Swaggers Inn in cross-dress and without a scratch upon his old and wrinkly body. As a result of Kiran supposedly re-appearing, the Swaggers Inn is suffering from continuous raids, and many barmaids are risking their jobs to keep their beloved manloving manager. A new set of Criminals A villain supposedly called the “Crimson Braider” has been traumatizing poor citizens of Cove, Yew and Vesper! There are apparently other villains involved in these hideous crimes such as mugging, assault, rape and even murder! Which Militia shall be the one to sort to these crimes quickest? The Covian Army, the Guardsmen Militia or the Vesperians? Maybe even the Duchy of Trinsic or EVEN the Army of Kaldor? ---------------------------------------------- Rumours Bar Manager of the Swaggers Inn’s return is said to be that of a voodoo! Who will buy drinks there with a voodoo manager? We shall see, eh? Rebecca, ALSO of the Swaggers Inn has been ‘chucked’ by her beloved Locke. Neither shall discuss the reasons of why it has happened, but we can only assume it is because they both get around more than a little too much. Word has it that the Davion’s are inbred! Evidence of this matter is being churned as you eat your supper, folks. The beautiful Amara is apparently reeling in cash again, men! She has so much of it nowadays that it can be seen poking out of her strappy sandals! Get flocking, men! She’s a good one. Madsen has been whoring again, ladies and gents’! Yes yes yes. He has been caught with the Cove Corporals, the Swaggers Staff, the Drows and EVEN his own trainee women. Shame on him. A wanted poster is currently being produced, which has a sketch of him in the nude on it. One more strike and he gets a burning, so we hear! Oh. And as per usual, the Dragoon Serg |
