Lil'alure

Lil'alure's background story.

Gargauthan Xae'roth grew up in Menzoberranzan as the 7th son in a minor, but ancient House that had existed as a clan before the Descent. Entering the M?l?e-Maghtere Academy at an early age, he started learning how to use a single blade and spear. His learning progressed slowly; due to sneaking out to various luxurious taverns after Narbondel went dark. Here he would sing and dance, which in reality was his major talents. After a few hours he would always sneak out, due to fear of being discovered, or even worse; catch the attention of a priestess of Lolth seeking a pet capable of dancing. Due to this, Gargauthan would use several fungus extracts to straighten his hair, so the easily recognizable curls would disappear.

After a while, Gargauthan donned his new name and alter-ego, Lil'alure, meaning Dance in Drow. While Gargauthan was a devoted student at the Academy, Lil'alure was a hedonistic pleasure seeker who led a life of debauchery in the taverns. After a while he began attracting similar, bored upper class males, and they slowly gathered into an association of sorts, trading information with each other, especially sharing what they gleaned of the Lands Above, as they were all wanting to gather an expedition to pillage, plunder and enslave the weaker races of the Lands Above.

One day while walking down a street leading to Narbondel, he caught the glimmer of a small drow woman, wearing a dark green dress and a hood, white gloves and soft leather boots. Lil'alure, never denying himself the view of a beautiful woman, gazed at her, noticing she had brilliant amber eyes. What he also noticed were the three roguish looking drow following her. Lil'alure watched from the shadows, picking his first target. As the woman walked into an alleyway, Lil'alure sincerely doubted her sanity as the three males followed her. Standing at the corner, Lil'alure peered into the alley. The woman was looking up at the wall that rudely enough had placed itself there. Sighing to himself, Lil'alure watched as the slightly puzzled female turned. The three drow had started spreading out walking towards her, blades drawn. Suddenly she shouted an incantation; Lil'alure spun around the corner, seeing a white flash coming out of the alley to his right. Spinning around the corner, he saw the first male was flayed; he was lying on the ground, his skin in a pile beside him. The two other males were staggering above, blind as grimlocks. The female hadn't been able to avert her eyes either, blinking furiously and trying to take cover in a corner. Lil'alure walked up to the two other males, cutting their spinal cords at the neck and began walking towards the female.

Looking down at the female, he could see she wasn't completely blinded anymore, and as he extended his hand to help her up, she charged at him apparently thinking he was about to attack. The woman's momentum bore him to the ground as she shrieked a curse. On his back, Lil'alure looked up at the woman puzzledly. Her hands had pinned his to the ground. Brawling, as Lil'alure called wrestling, had never been his strong side, as Lil'alure was far from strong or big, being of a rather delicate build, he was even considered to be exceptionally small by other drow, and this woman was about the same size. Headbutting the woman hard, she screamed, her grip loosened and Lil'alure punched her squarely in the face. She fell off with a thud and another scream. Rolling over, he found the woman already on her feet, about to aim a kick at his ribs. Rolling again, trying to evade, only earned him a kick in the side. Grunting, Lil'alure brought out a dagger from his sleeve at the same moment as the woman uncoiled a whip at her side. As the woman brought the whip to bear against Lil'alure inferior reach, he ducked, dodged and dove, but still the evil tongue lashed at him. His clothes and his skin too - torn, ripped and slashed, gave very little protection. Deftly sidestepping out of its reach, he threw his dagger. The female tried evading it, but it nicked her arm. Now all Lil'alure had to do was wait. Suddenly he could feel his moves growing sluggish. His vision started blurring as he got hit another time, right across the chest. His fingers refused to obey and his feet growing heavy. The female was grinning triumphantly, but suddenly her lungs gave a great shout as she realised that she wasn't the only one who had used knockout potion. Lil'alure remembers falling to his knees and seeing her whip about to lash, but he never received that extra lash.

Waking up, the woman a mere meter away, he staggered to his feet, leaning against the wall. His body ached with all the cuts. Seeing the woman stirring, Lil'alure decided to make sure she didn't make any more attacks against him. He grabbed her spell components that she must have lost when she cast the brightness spell, placed it in his pocket, retrieving his dagger and walked over to her, picked up her fallen whip and searched her for any more weapons. Pocketing her two hidden daggers and he propped her up against his knees with his blade against her throat, waiting till she was conscious enough to respond.
One move and I'll slit your throat. Same goes for any foolish screaming. Say yes if you understand.
The woman mumbled yes very groggily and Lil'alure continued.
"Now, female, I just saved your life. Those men would have captured you and brought you to a pleasure house, especially with the looks you possess. When you blinded them, I dispatched them and I was offering you a helping hand to get up when you attacked. Now, I'd like to ask your name."
The female grunted, but complied.
"Phyrune, House of no importance."
"Priestess?"
She shook her head.
"Mage. And might I ask you your name?"
"My name is Lil'alure."
"Isn't that a bit of an odd name?"
"It's not my real name, which I choose not to divulge," Lil'alure retorted.
Releasing her, he once again offered her his hand to help her up. Phyrune sniffed, giving his hand a glance and stood herself, leaning heavily against the wall.
"Well fought, Phyrune. I wasn't expecting the poison." Lil'alure was evidently looking at her figure, and making no attempt to hide it either.
Phyrune sniffed once again.
