GTA 4 then

Bloody hell enjoying this. 9 hours into the game, 24.13% done and just opend up Algonquin. Star Junction is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen in a game. The game engine is amazing, car damage is amazingly realistic even if they do still handle a bit dodgy but huge improvement over gta 3 series. Not tired the multiplayer aspect yet

Didn't get much play time but I'm impressed so far. Multiplayer is one thing I've always missed in the previous GTA titles, seems to be done rather well in this one. And say what you will about the graphic content - it's kinda refreshing to play a game that's made for adults. Oh and they stripped the most annoying things from GTA-SA, like fitness and training. I mean damn.. Whoever thought that up needs to be shot. And run over with a car. And beaten with a crowbar. Then robbed.

Was just talking about that in the office, with the exact same feeling

Oh and they really put a lot of work into drunkenness - damn I almost felt sick the first time. And DUI is FUN!

Well after
  • 47 hours 47 minutes and 09 seconds played
  • 19596 bullets fired
  • 841 people killed
  • 186 cars, 11 bikes, 13 boats and 3 helicopters
  • 214 stars attained and 179 evaded
  • 94 missions passed
  • 27 mission fails
  • 1 arrest
  • 25 deaths
Finaly finished the story and only 69.75% complete. The end credits takes about half an hour to run through! Now to decide if to play it through again from the start and make a few different choices along the way or go for 100% first. What was impressive is when I started playing used a controller that had just had it batteries charged, the moment the end credits started to roll it ran out of juice, perfect timing.

The new Euphoria physics are amazing and hitting people with cars is actually fun now. As is shooting people in the legs and watching them crawl off.

The dialogue too - hearing some homie go "Protect ya neck!" randomly or - as a girl character model in multiplayer - I heard a guy say to me "Come sit on my knee".

I am disappointed with the lack of any real use for money, such as a proper garage or housing, perhaps it would have been a good idea to have insurance as well, whereby that nice car you have - if you had an appropriate garage lets say - would return there once blown up (at a cost). Also despite the improvements, the graphics still look fairly cartoony in areas, so they could improve a fair amount with that.

Then there is the matter of the $50 mil from Microsoft. My PS3 friend reckons that the PS3 will get its own exclusive content later on, but why pay 50 million just to get exclusive content before another console? There is so much they could do with DLC before they even come to downloadable expansions on the scale of VC or SA (I would seriously love a vice city 2 done in RAGE).

Overall this game was not a disappointment at all, in the way Halo 3 was to an extent, and I love it. I think the sites - many - that gave it a 10/10 were being a bit optimistic and premature, because if you were to take a good hard look at the gameplay there is some things that can still be improved upon that people may not like.

Oh yeah, multiplayer is amazing. I am impressed at how well online play handles, with cars and pedestrians when players are far apart. Cars, boats, helicopters, RPGs, its all going on! How that can happen and PES can't just shows that the GTA people actually know what they are doing, which gives me faith in anything else they have planned for the future of GTA games.

Failed in my attempt to get 100% in a week, 86.33% so not really that close though only need to do about 15 races, boost a couple of friendships and kill 100 pigeons

Nobody has the "Let sleeping rockstars lie" achievement yet I don't think

I'd be up for some of the MP achievements, eg if you want someone extra for the timed ones (since I don't see many people playing some of them). Races get way too cluttered and, even though many people online are awful at racing, 15 other people can easily put you in last position within a few seconds with their major pileups

Wasnt talking about the achivements, Rockstar ran a competition on the social club site (ROCKSTAR GAMES SOCIAL CLUB) where if you got 100% in the first week would get a nice key to liberty city.

I managed to get up to 90% tonight just by doing some current crimes on the police computer, still need to get pigeons but thats taking ages as I am not sure which ones I have already got. Also need to do races but for 3 in game days tonight there was none running.
