| OT: Question about RAM Hi, I recently bought 2gb of RAM (2x1gb) to upgrade my computer, I currently have 1gb of game already installed. The 2gb of RAM I bought are the same manufacturer, the one inside my PC is different, I think. If added the 2gb of RAM to my PC will there be any conflicts? Would I experience any problems with games. The reason I ask is I installed them all so it came up with 3gb of RAM thinking that it would have increased my performance while playing Vanguard, being able to have some higher quality settings. I am not very technical when it comes to the insides of my PC. Oh I currently have 3ghz Pentimum 4.

| Remember that no matter how much RAM you have - it will not increase your computer's performance as long as there is available RAM.

| Incompatible RAM can decrease the speed of your machine. If BIOS recognises the RAM then it should be ok - the manufacturer of the RAM is irrelevant as long as its the same type - DIMM SIMM etc clock speed - 333mhz etc voltage - 2.7 etc if all those are correct it should work fine But like achenar says above - 3gb RAM is quite excessive and very few games will actuially shunt that much data into RAM - so you will still have HD accessing going into an Instance in WoW for example I doubt theres much incresed efficiency between 1gb and 3gb =)

| I would check that the speed of the ram is the same. If all is the same, I would keep the 3Gb, if it is not, use 2 Gb. Why try to have the 3Gb? Because some day you are going to install Vista, and that does take quite a bit of memory. Also, because you have them, I don't like anything going to waste! Well, better check all Calumf mentions. |

| Ok thanks for your replys. I might also buy a new PC I was thinking of the one at the bottom of this page. Sounds ideal, I have emailed them asking what series the graphics card is, if its 7 series or above I might go for it http://www.littlewoods.com/rf/naviga...linkId=1575252
