PvP

On top of all the other requirements we set for our members, KT has one general issue we like to promote when it comes to pvp with other roleplayers, and that is a certain level of fairness.

The use of unnecessary force is usually regarded as poor judgement. So we try not to gank our enemies, simply because its no fun for them, yes, we might win, but who cares if we win when we do it in bad form ?
and how many roleplaying guilds would want to interact with KT if we earn a reputation as pvp'ers and not roleplayers ?

Its almost impossible to match armies so there will be an even match, but one way is to look at the numbers, the Officers in KT will do their best not to order to many to engage an enemy force.

No rules without exceptions, when guarding a Caravan the Officer in charge will usually send as many Knights in pursuit of attackers as he/she deems necessary to deal with the challenge, this is because there is something to guard on the caravan. Likewise when KT is guarding Beaufort, we might want to make sure the town doesn’t fall victim to an enemy, and allow them to sack the town or similar.

But in general we will match the team send against an enemy force with numbers that matches the enemies.

One thing I have heard Saktoth (guild master of Orc) said was that mages have a lot of impact on how a battle between groups of mixed warriors/mages turns out. And I like to give him credit for this, as he put words on something I had experienced and thought about.

If a KT team has one or more mages (we call them Clerics)
those mages will try to hold back if they see that KT is getting the upper hand - no need to cast multiple comboes on the same target and do anything within their power to bring down the enemy. Perhaps a few heals and cures on their Knights, and a fireball or two on the enemy. They might even have time to emote and say things which can add to the atmosphere.

On the other hand if they are in a tight spot, driven away from their team and pursued by one or more enemies, they will do their best to defend themselves and fight for their lives. Or if the KT team is starting to be beaten up, they will of course do their best not to loose the field in that battle.

For the warriors we have made it a rule with many of the guilds we are at war with, that we don't use magic weapons. It doesn’t mean we never use them, some guilds might not want to have this rule when fighting us, and most would like to use their magic weapons when fighting monsters.

One of the ideas behind roleplayed pvp is to do something different from just pvp, most of us know what the fighting style in Factions looks like, and granted its effective. But its not something that will earn You much respect in roleplayed wars, and KT doesn’t want to be known as a PVP guild, if that was our aim, we would have stayed on Felucca, and would be in True Britannians Faction now.

Having fun in roleplayed wars is not so much about winning or loosing, a Pirate guild will have their fun with ale in abundance if they win a fight, but they are very likely to have fun as well, if they lose, provided those they lost to, did not wipe them out in ½ minute, and took the effort to do some roleplaying with them.

In general KT members are encouraged to restrain their use of force against enemies if its clear that KT is getting the upper hand.

Heres a few tips or ideas that might help You when trying not to do "overkill"
- if the enemy army retreats, no need to pursue each and everyone of them ½ mile into the woods to cut them down, show mercy on an enemy already defeated and on the retreat - yes, sometimes they might come back when they have healed up, but that is their choice, and who says every battle has to be 1 side takes all and the other team is wiped out ? and why cant a battle take more than just a few minutes ? give the other side a chance to revise their strategy and try again, You don't loose by this - and if You loose, perhaps KT should revise their strategy.
- make some macroes that You can use prior to, during and after the fight/battle
"Have at Thee !!"
"Justice will be swift and final"
"Alas all is lost !!"
"Victory is ours"

Say some funny things or something that suits the occasion.

and this is where You can excel with creative, imaginative and original roleplay as well.

The trick is not to forget Your a roleplayer while You do roleplayed pvp.
