Explaining Fireflower

As I wrote a lot less often on this character and someone asked today on the Defias board how exactly her story 'starts', I thought I'd write this up for him..then decided, what the hell I'll post it here.

Hokay....well, to start with Azrethoc - IC her 'testtube' father - is: http://www.wowwiki.com/Lord_Azrethoc

And her mother is:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Willow

I made her to pvp; I was utterly in love with the look and playstyle of locks and I was totally inspired by a great pvp/rp'er I knew who played a warlock named Arcorash. But I also wanted a good story for her.

I decided I was fascinated by the single undead woman in Desolace, this scientific agent who is working for the Twilight's Hammer and Azrethoc himself not so far away. I also was tired of the whole 'lol I am posessed by demonz I r sexeh' storylines so often used by warlock types.

SO.......OK..how to explain Fireflower!

I decided (somewhat controversially) to use these NPCs in my storyline in a very particular way.....

They are her parents...but not because Willow and Azrethoc were 'together' in the traditional manner (heh), but participated in an experiment to create a warlock 'beyond' the capabilities of demons, immortal but with the ability to move as and behave as humans.

Fireflower is beyond posessed- in fact, she's not even human, but an experiment (which has obviously failed) conducted by the Burning Blade - in short, the daughter of Demon Lord Azrethoc and Willow, Fireflower is neither fully human, nor demon, and this essentially bad and irreconcileable combination is what makes her so mentally tormented and unstable. She is 'frozen' at about 17 years of age in appearance. She is immortal, which is both a blessing and a curse. (rp purists will haaaaaet me, don't care. more fun to think for myself and do something unusual. And given Willow's odd presence out there, I still think it wasn't entirely out of the question for something like this to occur especially as she claims to be a 'researcher/scientist'.)

Heresy, a long time ago, encountered Fireflower as a half-coherent, grubby muttering freak living in Desolace in the tent with Willow. In the story - Heresy actually forcibly takes her from Willow in anger, once she realises what the creature is and what she's destined for. In a misguided (maybe, maybe not) attempt to 'save' what humanity lingers in the girl, she takes her to Orgrimmar, which was the beginning of Fire's 'life' among the Horde.

What Fireflower started out as was a clumsy attempt at a demon woman; half clumsy, half juvenile seductress (think a very scruffy Lolita). But as she spent time among the 'living', over time what bit of humanity was in her was affected; instead of becoming more sane though, it went the opposite way as her human and demon consciousness couldn't resolve itself.

THe more I played her the more I realised the 'manipulative seductress' was a one-way street, and boring. So instead she is more fractured than that, more vulnerable. She returned to her 'beloved father' to be scorned by him for being impure...and murdered him one afternoon in Desolace (quest to kill him ftw!). In this moment she realises she cannot be killed herself and screams in a moment of tormented self-awareness; the first time she's realised she is a 'self' it nearly sends her over the edge. She's both childlike and womanly, silly and cruel, violent and scatterbrained. She also makes potions, using her own blood as a sort of 'storage battery' as she believes it strengthens herself.

Over time she gets involved in a few entanglements while terrorising STV with the troll priestess Shida. Her 'friendship' with Shida, (as she really has no 'friends') also contributes to her growing sense of loyalty to certain figures even if she doesn't know what loyalty is.

Eventually she met Zik IC, and the self-destructive mage, a tormented ex-gnome rogue who at the time WAS posessed and in constant need of demonic strength agreed - in exchange for a taste of her bloody potions - to set Heresy up and get her killed by Nashtoch; a plot which later failed when Zik couldn't carry through with it, and warned Heresy in advance.

He did this because (I'm guessing), Heresy wouldn't harm him when she had the chance; she felt pity and worry for Zik and refused to help him destroy himself.

Now Zik has - after a long absence - returned from Northrend; her father (that she murdered once) has been resurrected and is nothing short of enraged that this 'abomination' of a halfling daughter roams Outlands slaying Burning Legion members and is out to see her destroyed.

So these Hushabye stories are about this reunion between a stronger, saner Zik....and the battle for Fireflower's "sanity"....and setting up the future storylines. Fireflower won't ever be sane, but in the slivers of sense she has post-battle, she will have brief moments of it. To fight is the only way to feel, and that combined with Lord Azrethoc's order to Cattwyn to see that Fireflower literally 'fights until she drops' sets up a tragic and bittersweet reality. Zik - once weakened himself now returns a stronger man, who comes to realise he is fond of a creature that is quite literally a mess and only able to express herself with any sense in tiny slices of time.

My plan is that Zik and Fireflower's rp centers around a lot of pvp - a sort of Bonnie and Clyde approach (not unlike the early days of H and Linton but this is a lot better gear and more experience...hehe), because only through fighting can Fireflower return or express anything more than chaos, and Fireflower must - literally - fight to feel, even if it destroys her, its also the only thing that 'saves' her.

Anyway there's some background information. Thank you for reading!
