Rabid Bogling

This is a rather odd question, but do any of you know the name of this game: I can only recall bits and pieces of it, since I could only have been around 5-6 when I stumbled upon it at a cousin's house, but I have a sudden urge to track it down and play on it. Anyhoo, it's a DOS game, 1st person RPG, traditional dungeon-crawl material, the main character's some scrawny teenager accompanied by a party of wierd and wonderful characters you pick up along the way. In what I remember of the intro he's sitting in a window as a kid calling down to some buxxom peasant girl, who throws an apple up to him. Some trippy nonsense that I've forgotten happens and then it skips to him being a young adult, walking up to some ruins and being greeted by a ghost. Gah! I can't think of anything else about it, but it's worth asking on the off chance that somebody knows of it. 'twas perhaps the first RPG I ever played.

It's just the element of wonder I had playing it as a little kid that I had hoped to recapture in a bout of nostalgia. I should probably stay well clear of it on reflection, lest' I realise that it's utter bollocks.

@Garret: If you liked Nethack, I'd recommend going to Thangorodrim, and downloading the Rogue->Nethack->Moria->Angband variant, called ZAngband, which is a great derivative.
