Rules and Ranks - Work in Progress

Gifts and Powers:
Vampires have certain abilities natural to them, these powers only increase with age, though some Vampires will only ever be so powerful. Like some humans are more suited to labour than intellectual pursuits. The fullness of their powers are unknown, from extreme strength, to mind control, to power over the lesser dead, these are only a few of the documented abilities.
All "Gifts and Powers" are gained through Role Play. Just because you reach a rank that CAN have powers, doesnt mean YOU do. You earn the privilege to have these things, and through quests and scenarios gain them and express them in RP ways that suit your individual character. Playing a weak Vampire is even an option, it is up to you how the personality and abilities are best expressed within our guidelines.

---To work within the framework of UO's game mechanics, certain items are allowed for use by SOME members. All mortal members are to follow the strict item guidelines of groups such as CoRE.

Servants:
First rank, and a mortal rank. All new members start here. Must follow CoRE item guidelines and such. Upholds the secrecy of the Court. Is bound magically by blood, to keep them loyal to the court.

Followers: Still restricted by CoRE guidelines. The blood bond is furthered here, these members are still mortal but seen as being possibly worthy of one day joining the Vampire kind.

Ghouls: These are mortals whose lives are directly linked to an Elder Vampire. They are granted one gift(power) by having imbided the blood of a powerful Vampire. They are still "mortal" but have gained strength from there permanent blood bond, they can communicate mentally with their controller. (Gift/item/power is chosen by the Elder) Ghoul are unique in that they don't always become Vampire. Followers generally do, but Ghouls are often content with their in between state. Drawbacks: If your Elder is harmed/weakend/etc, so are you. Usually if an Elder wishes to strip a lesser Vampire of his or her power it is done through an act of sheer powerful will, however, doing so to a Ghoul is more direct. Death.
-----------------------------------------------
Initiates:

The are the newly made vampires, and are allowed one magic item, a ring, bracelet or weapon. It can NOT be an artifact or any other high level item, nothing too special and unique. Your Creator, the one who made you a Vampire can strip this level of item from you, as In Character, they still have control over you and your blood. They in essence weaken you as punishment or some kind of lesson.

Courtiers:

These level members of the Court, those being allowed to be independent to most degrees are allowed two simple simple magic items. Again nothing artifact or unique or any such item. Your Creator, the one who made you a Vampire, can strip you of the power of these items also.

Elites:

These members are allowed three simple magic items, that is, again, not artifact or any such quality. At this point your link directly to your creator is in some ways weakened, and in others stronger. You can be stripped of two magic items(powers) by your creator, but now only your Elder can strip you of all your powers. (This is the first rank allowed to make new Vampires, but only with permission of their Clan Elder.)

Lord/Mistress:

These are allowed all of the above and ONE artifact. This artifact must suit your character as far as RP goes, and it must be dyed to not look garrish and awful. If it is a weapon it can not be a weapon that has fire damage of any amount. At this level only the Clan Elder can strip you of your powers.

Elders:
The Oldest among the Court, the Elders are very powerful.
Elders are in two categories.
Founding Elders: The very Oldest of those awake, those who rule the Court. They are allowed whatever they see fit so long as it suits them and use no more than 4 artifacts. Other magic armor pieces and rings etc, that are just runic/enhanced/etc, are fine.
New Elders: Old vampires, but those recently elevated by the Founders. Allowed no more than 2 artifacts, must follow all guide lines.

RULE FOR ALL ABOUT USE:
These items are never to be used in Trammel, or Ilshenar(Unless under ground, caves, dungeons, etc). These lands experience the full power of the sun, and or something about their magic properties of the land, weaken Vampire kind. Only Founding Elders may use one non-weapon artifact in these lands at night, but nothing else. We classify Trammel/Ilsh night as anytime from 23:00 GMT to 06:00 GMT. This is late yes, but because of the community we play with and respect for others, we take such measures to weaken us a bit, and increase our uniqueness.

All members who chose to use items, as it is a choice, not required, are suggested to have non-magic suits with them for use in Trammel and such. The powers given by items is role played and looked at as the natural powers of the Vampire. You may make the character weak even if you wish. For example purposefully using things that negativley effect your fact cast, etc. These are aids and additions to rp and not to be used solely for pvp power. We discourage constant pvp involvement.

A Vampire always fighting in public would quickly raise suspicion and this breaks the Covenant.

Felluca and Malas are the dark lands, and here the Vampires of the Court enjoy their full powers. Powers can also be used in Lost Lands (Trammel and Felluca) and Tokonu.
---
Other than our own unique rank and item system, we expect our members to follow CoRE RoE. This is the group we are mostly likely to encounter most often, and our mortals MUST obey this RoE and CoRE item rules to the letter. Only our Vampire levels have the adjusted item system.
We are not CoRE members, or any other group, however, we will do our best to make it simplier for these people to interact with us, to increase RP.

-
Allowed Race, etc. Anyone can join the court, though not everyone will be a Vampire. We require everyone to spend some time as a Servant, then follower, before making the choice and commitement to being a Vampire. Any race can join us, but NOTE THIS:

If you become a Vampire, that is your Race. You are now the undead. You may look like an elf or a drow, or something else, however, looks is now as far as it goes.

So any race can be a servant or follower and retain who and what they are, but once you make the change to Vampire, that is what you are. Not an ElfPire or something, but a Vampire in the body of an elf, or drow.

Skills: All skills except Spellweaving and Chivalry are allowed.

----
Making New Vampires:
We make from within almost exclusively. We do take members who are already playing Vampires, but we go through a series of IC quests and events to have them fit our way of life.

Unless something unique happens, all who wish to be Vampires must start at the bottom ranks of mortal servants and work up over time. This doesnt exclude exiting Vampires who wish to be with us, who perhaps haven't had a guild or want to be in ours, they just need my permission and RP reasons set up.

To spawn a new Vampire you must be of Elite rank, and have permission of the Founding Elders of the time.
- How does one become a Vampire?
This is taught in game only, but it is NOT as simple as a bite and you turn or something silly. It is complex and take place over time. This is to ensure seriousness and dedication to a more elaborate role.
-- I STRESS AGAIN: We do not reveal our true identities publicly and we protect our secrecy and that of the entire court with deadly furor. It is a must for all.
